She is not only insanely smart (Harvard professor...which adds in the nice bonus of some handsome Harvard med students that show up at appts. once in awhile)...but she is also very laid back.
I feel like so many women are so tense and uptight about everything during their pregnancy...and I think some OB's just feed the fire. For example...I went to a different Dr. for my ultrasound and there was a calcium spot on the heart...he was adament I get a amnio in the rare case it could be Down Syndrome...I felt differently. My own OB told me not to worry and actually called the other Dr. and told him to stop badgering her patients.
I love my OB because when I came to her with silly questions, she never dismissed them, but always eased my mind. She had the approach of "if you're doing fine, we don't need x amounts of ultrasounds, we don't need to give you 8 internals at the end of your pregnancy to see how dilated you are because the baby will come when the baby wants to and we don't need to run 8 million tests for the 1/10000 chance your baby might have down syndrome". I was so calm and relaxed my first pregnancy and I think a lot of it was due to her being so calm and relaxed.
I just wanted to put this out there because I have watched friends and family be paranoid messes their whole pregnancy and I think it took a huge toll on them and I think their Dr's sometimes fed into it and that sucks.
Basically relax...enjoy your pregnancy as long as nothing is going insanely wrong and have a ham sandwich and glass of wine.
