I did a poll on here a few weeks ago. 230 new moms responded. 65% of their babies where born before their due date. The studies I have seen have a similar number, with 70% being born by their due date. I did not seperate out by sex, but I may do another poll and ask about only people having "natural" labor, not scheduled cs or inductions.
My doctor told me most first time moms deliver around their due date (some a bit earlier, some a bit later) but that most (at least in their practice) go on their own by the 41st week and don't have to be induced
I have had 2 girls and am pregnant with my 3rd girl. #1 was born at 35 weeks, #2 was born at 37 weeks, and my doctor thinks I will be early this time as well.
i've always heard that boys are early and girls are late. i had 3 girls that were late. i'm preggo with a boy this time and i'm REALLY hoping he's early but not crossing any fingers. i've been asking a lot of people lately too if they were early or late and i've been hearing a lot of girls are late and boys have been early so.... i agree with those above though that 1st time moms are usually late.
Re: Is it more common to be early or late?
Most first-time moms tend to go late, though my son was born on his EDD and my nephew (also a 1st born) was born 1 day early.
