Infertility

HazelEyes730

We have something in common-we've both had ileostomies! Mine was back in 2000 when I had to have my large intestine removed and my take down was in 2001. We are assuming that that is why I'm having trouble getting pregnant. My doctor thinks I have a lot of abdomina adhesions and I don't want to go through lap surgery so we are doing IVF#1 in April. I don't come across many people who know what an ileostomy is and who know first hand what it's like having one.

  • Hi! You are the first person I've talked to that has had one and it's hard for people to understand what it's like. It was no fun at all! You had yours much longer than mine though. You're a trooper! Yeah the colon resection to remove the endo from my colon is what caused the scar tissue and ruined my tubes. My RE was in on the surgery as well to remove any endo found in other spots and there wasn't much to remove elsewhere and all my reproductive organs looked great at that time. When I think about it I get mad but really I had to have the surgery so there was really no other option for me. It sucks! My IVF ER and ET should be the first full week in April. I'm excited but scared it's not going to work. Lots of emotions! Good luck with your IVF!
