BF'ing Moms and Green Poop ?

Olivia has had a bit of green poop in her diaper the past three times I've changed her. Anyone know why? Should I be concerned?

Thanks?

  • I wouldn't be too concerned. Their poop will change color so many times! I think as long as it's not black, white, or has blood in it you're ok!

  • I wouldn't be too concerned either.  Green is a normal color.  Green poop is usually a sign in BF'd babies that they aren't getting enough hindmilk.  If you want it to go back to that mustard yellow color, maybe try massaging your breasts (push from the back of the breast toward the nipple).
  • Charlotte has some green poops now & then.  She hasn't acted weird, so I haven't been too concerned.  Interesting about the hindmilk, didn't know that

Our Pedi told me the same thing about the hindmilk.  I was told to only feed from one side each feeding if it continued for more than a few days.

  • For us, it was a milk/ dairy allergy (from my diet).  It was diagnosed when DD was 2 months.  I would ask her pedi about it.
  • Ellie had green poops from time to time. I never worried much about it -- it changes so often!

  • Nicholas had a neon green poop once while I was pumping....turns out it was from the fact that I had eaten asparagus!
