I would do the freestanding one. I have family over for meals pretty often and I can't lose the chair to a strap on highchair. If you don't have people over for meals very often, you could go with either.

if you have people over for dinner- are you going to have enough seats if one is used up by baby? that is what steered me away from the one that snaps to a chair and got a freestanding one....
but as far as color choices- i do not like the pattern of baby-ish looking furniture - i prefer more neutrals- that blend in with the home - b/c otherwise your house truly gets taken over by baby crap - and it just looks ugly.
we have the Baby Trend orange oak high chair- and love it. The colors go with our decor... and it's easy to clean, etc. We had the Eddie Bauer one before that and HATED it b/c it was so hard to clean between the slats.
We have a town house so we don't have a ton of space - so we never really have THAT much company at one time. If we ever do have a bigger party, we would need to borrow/rent chairs anyway.
I guess now I am leaning more towards #2 because it will save space and I prefer the non-babish color/pattern too.
Definitely the Space Saver one. We had/have that one for DS and it's been great. I hate real highchairs that take up more floor space....plus I'm not a fan of themed out colorful baby gear.
If number two is the FP spacesaver, I highly recommend it. My littlest one loves his and has been using it since he was about three months old, sometimes just to hang out and play in. The tray adjusts seperately from the seat, which means you can recline him but still adjust the tray to be level. I love that...and it is super lightweight and can be taken to restaurants/grandparents easily. I am so getting another one for this baby.
I am getting one that is kinda in between the 2. It is a Graco one that is freestanding but you can also take it off and attach it to a chair. And it is pretty neutral. I would get sick of looking at the other one after a little while. It just stands out too much for my taste. We don't want one that only attaches to a chair since right now we have a 4 seater table and have 2 older kids. We are trying to hold off on getting a new table until we are back in the US so we have to wait a year.
#2 is the same one I registered for. We picked it because the dining room in our condo is quite small and we just don't have the room for another chair.
I know this isnt what you asked for but we bought a traditional high chair and then got rid of it. I have to say that the best purchase we ever made was for a Stokke Tripp Trapp I know they have an infant add on too.
It does not take up a lot of room and grows with your child. Our 4 year old still uses his to scoot up to the table.

We're registering for #2 the spacesaver. We rarely have company, and we have plenty of chairs!

#2 would be nice if you visit friends or family often. You could take it with you.
