Possible to Squish Baby?

I'm 13 weeks and was cleaning my bathtub and leaned my pelvic area over the edge. I immediately found it very uncomfortable and stopped. It hurt for a while after. Is it possible that I squished the baby?

Re: Possible to Squish Baby?

  • I'm pretty sure that your baby has so much protection over it that it isn't really an issue until it's much larger....

  • Possible but not probable.  You stopped when it was uncomfortable, that is the key.  You are fine!
  • you can't squish the baby. it is very very well protected.

I would be more worried if you were using/inhaling harsh cleaning chemicals...

  • Nope, no squishing. Uncomfortable, yes. Your uterus is growing, so it's possible that your leaning was stretching a muscle or something.

I'm almost 39w and I cleaned my tub yesterday. It's hard not to lean on this tummy anymore, but she will be just fine!

  • your baby is very well protected in there. It would take WAY WAY more then just leaning over the edge of the tub to even come close to "squishing" the baby!

Not that I'd recommend this... ;) But my friend's 3 y.o. jumped off the couch and landed on her stomach when she was in the begining of the 3rd tri.. Even w/ that, the baby was completely fine. Like I said, they are very well protected :)

LOL. I opened this post more to read the responses then to actually answer the question.. and I was pretty shocked! My answers have always been the same (tone) though, so no change there ;)

  • Well all I can say is that at my first ultrasound at 14 weeks the techs were so rough with the wand I was sore for two days and lost all notion of hurting the baby ever by pressing on my stomach.

These days, if I press to hard I get a Ninja Kick or Karate Chop back and an F-You Mommy.?
