Infertility

Back from IUI and I have a ?.....

Well things went as well as they could today.   I went into the appt with a positive and optomistic attitude.  Unfortunately DH's #'s were not as great as we both had hoped (1.2mil post wash), but the RE said everything else looked really good.   I am not going to let this get me down because I just have to keep telling myself that it only takes one.  :)    I am feeling kind of crampy, which has not happened before, but I am not going to read to much into that..... It was just something that I noticed.

Now for the question:   When I got home, I had mail from the RE's office w/my hcg injection instructions (2 days late) and my prescription for my progesterone blood draw which I have to do on 3/20.   Anywho, part of the instructions state that the day I have the progesterone test done I am to administer a 2nd shot of hcg (only 1/2 ml)  and they have never told me to do that before.   Is that normal?

  • Hi there! I have definitely heard of people getting an HCG booster after trigger and IUI.  I honestly am not really sure why, but I am sure your RE has a good reason.  Good luck to you!  You totally deserve this :)

  • I go in on Monday to check if I need HcG again. They call it a booster shot, and it should be only 5000 units. I hope it helps.
  • Wishing you tons of luck!

I did a booster shot of Ovidrel (1/3 of the prefilled syringe) a week after my IUI. They told me it was to help out in case I was pregnant. I don't see many women on here who've done it, but it can't hurt.
