Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What activities do you do outside with dc?

It was really warm here last week (75ish). It's the first time that it's been warm enough for us to be outside for any prolonged period of time. What activites/games do you do outside with dc? We spent most of our time throwing a ball around the yard and him chasing it or him standing at the fence looking at the dogs. We did a few stroller or wagon walks and went to the playground. Now I'm out of ideas until the pool opens. What else?

We have a swing but haven't hung it for him yet. I thought about getting a sandbox but I think he's a tad too young (ie. would eat the sand).

  • Um, we've fallen on the ice a few times. Does that count?

Damn you and your warm weather.

  • Come visit and we'll let the kiddos entertain each other while we sit on the porch and enjoy a frosty beverage!

  • A lot of times Zachary is happy just to be outside walking around.  He loves for me to "chase" him, or for me to run away from him.  He loves going to the park to watch the ducks too.
  • We go to the park every day and put Harm in the tot swings and Daddy takes him on the slide!  This is his favorite Smile

  • Gardening!  He loves pulling weeds.  Walks, we love our walks.  HTH
  • Ugh, I got nothing!  DS hate the feel of grass on his feet and he doesn't like the swings.  We are no fun!  But hopefully next week it will be warmer again (what is with the 80 degree weather on wednesday, and then 40's yesterday and today....it's freaking houston!)  I want to keep taking him to the park and trying out the swings and get him used to stuff outside.  I want a wagon, but don't have the $$ for it yet :(

  • LOL LoriFalce we have also fallen on the ice a few times.  DD loves wondering up the laneway.  She did a face plant into the dirt the other day and thought it was the best thing ever!  She also loves watching the dog run around being an idiot.
  • It was warm here for about 1 day :) but we went out side and played with bubbles! My DD loved chasing them around the yard.  I also got a big, bouncy ball that we roll/throw back and forth that she likes to play with.
  • We do all of the things you said. We have a big yard so we can let DS roam around while we are following him around of course.  He picks up sticks and gives them to the dog.  He picks up rocks, plays with balls etc.  He would be happy playing outside all day.  We have a pool, but it's till too cold.  I was thinking about getting a kiddie pool this weekend.
  • It's still a bit too windy and cool here but, when possible, I take DS for stroller rides or take him to the park for a ride on the swings.  When DS is old enough, I look forward to taking him to feed the ducks at our local pond and to climb on the playground equipment.  I also plan to get him an activity pool for the summer and some bubbles!
