Bouncy seats and swings....

Is it really necessary to buy both??? Or would you guys recommend one over the other?? Alot of ppl have said that all I need is a swing. What's you opinions??

Re: Bouncy seats and swings....

  • We registered for both, but I know my cousin's kids only liked the bouncy seat.  I think it depends on the child and his or her preference.

  • I have both and use both. DS loves the bouncer because it vibrates and likes the toy bar when he's awake, and the swing is great for naps
  • I would register for both.  Bouncers are nice for moving room to room while you are doing housework, etc.  Get one with a vibrating features, helps soothe the baby.

  • It's not necessary.  I had both and DS loved both.  I'd use them at different times.  The bouncy is portable...but you could always get a portable swing.

  • We used both, but we definitely got more use out of the bouncer. For 2 weeks, our daughter slept in the bouncer beside our bed. She just would not sleep without the vibration.
  • We registered for both. I'd like to put a swing in the basement so when I'm doing laundry down there I know baby is locked in. The bouncy seat I can move around the upstairs, which is great and there's really no room for ?a swing up here.
  • I would get both--I wish my swing was more fun though--we got it from my sister and its not exciting to look at. He loves bright colors--I should have gotten a better one, but either way we've used both--the boucny more but hes sick of it by now

My thoughts exactly.  The swing will stay in one room but I can move the bouncer to various rooms in order to shower, cook, clean, etc

  • We have both, the only way I got anything done w/ DD for the first few months was thanks to her swing.  She wasn't a big fan of the bouncer but now she won't leave it alone.  And thinks its a toy.
  • We got both. You never know.
  • I got both...she slept in the swing for naps (thankfully) at first, and the bouncy seat was great when I wanted to shower, do things in the kitchen, etc.
