S/O names, did anyone try the top ten list?

DH and I have agreed to come up with our top 10 lists for boy and girls names by Sunday and then we will compare them to see if we have any in common.

Did anyone else do this?  Did it work?

  • No, but that is a good idea!

  • Nope, DH really wanted a JR and I am completely against it. So I just kept my mouth shut since I figured he'd come to his senses on his own. lol And he did :)

    Good luck to you!

  • We both just kept throwing out names we both liked. We both said Cameron so it stuck.
  • I made a list both times and DH cut it down a little bit, then we narrowed it down over time. Every time DH opened a baby name book, he'd find the worst ones and suggest them...on purpose.
  • sounds like a great ideea!  Our porblem is that even on our own we have trouble finding even a few names that we actually like.  Maybe we'll give it a shot anyway!
  • We kind of did that. We had a list that we came up with together, about 15 boys and 15 girls. We added names to that list that we both liked, even if we didn't love it. We each were able to "veto" names, so this joint list took a while to make.

Then every night for a week, we wrote down our top 3 names that day. It was weird, but our top 3 changed almost every day. At the end of the week, we looked back throughout the top 3s to see what the most common names were, then we compared our common choices. Fortunately, we had some that agreed, and that was it!

(I'm very organized, and DH is an engineer, so systems work for us!)

    LOL

  • Friends of mine did this, but did 20 names... they only had 3 in common, but that was enough!

  • We tried he couldn't come up with any... so  mmmNo.. DH is so bad w/names. But it basically came down to me choosing a few and him saying he liked this one and that one out of my list.

  • We did do this - I think we had 2 in common so we put all 18 on a sheet of paper and each week we knock off at least 1.  we are down to 7.  Trouble is I am still open to anything people suggest but if we dont find anything better, at least we have some to pick from.  I hope to have only 2 or 3 when he is born and be able to see which fits his face.
