ok, silly questions but....how does it work at the hospital if you are Formula feeding? Our hospital provided 1 of 2 brands of formula, you can pick which to try first with the help of the PEDI on call. Fine. but -
1. Will they supply the bottles? Should I bring my own? I am guessing you don't bring your own, but I don't know...
2. Will they just bring me a bottle to feed him every 3? hours or do I ask for them?
3. did you make the bottles in your room, or somewhere else?
Why am I so confused on the logistics of this?
PS - please don't turn this into a BF discussion if at all possible. That decision is made and behind me. Thanks.

1. They will supply everything. Our hospital used the ready to use formula so it was just a matter of screwing the nipple on the bottle.
2. In my hospital there was no nursery so he was with us. The baby nurses were awesome in helping us out and letting us know when to feed him and checking in on us.
3. Like I said, our hospital and I think many of them use the ready to use formula so there is no bottle to mix.
And FYI, I am guessing your hospital has Enfamil and Similac as many of them do. DS took Enfamil in the hospital since I had no preference but I switched him to Similac once we ran out of the Enfamil at home.
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
1.Our hospital supplied the bottles for us
2.They brought us a couple 6 pack of bottles
3.They were pre-made bottles that you just opened and put the nipple on
1. The formula is already in disposable plastic bottles and the hosp. provides nipples.
2. The hosp gave me 6-packs of little formula bottles that sat in my room so I could use them whenever DS was hungry.
3. In the room. You just shake the bottle, pop the top off, screw on the nipple, and voila!

cute.
Funny thing, I knew what formula I wanted to supplement with if DS needed it and I told the first nurse who did give him a bottle of what I wanted.
Later another nurse tried to tell me they didn't have it and out of that conversation I learned that they really had like 20 different formulas back there but only were supposed to tell you about 2. So If they say no at first and you say you really don't want Iron or soy or whatever else you can always see if they give in. They obviously need to keep all these things there for babies with different needs.
Ditto.
