can you combine breastmilk from pumping twice in one day? i have to go back to work in 3 wks and have started pumping twice a day and get anywhere from 2.5-5 ozs. at one time. i would likt to start putting it in 4 oz. bags for my mil to feed her.
Yes, as long as the milk was pumped within the same 24 hours.
However, it is not recommended to pour fresh (warm) milk directly into an already cold bottle. I used to put the newly pumped milk in the fridge for an hour or so, and then combine them.
I take public transportation to work and have to carry a heavy duty laptop along with bottles and the cooler bag for them. At work, I don't have lots of fridge space or time to mess with bottles post-pumping. Sometimes I take the 5oz bottles that came with the Medela PISA, sometimes I bring 10 oz regular bottles with secure caps.
I pump straight into what I previously pumped, and after each pumping I put my cooler bag into the fridge. When i have the small bottles I will pump in two, then the next pumping pump into the other 2 empty. If I pump a third time, I consolidate cold, but there is usually some left in the bottle I then pump into. When I have the bigger bottles (far easier) I just pump into what is already there. I haven't had any issues with milk going sour or her refusing this milk.

Hope that helps! : )
