Bikinis... Dare I say it?

I am going to an indoor water park the beginning of April (Great Wolf Lodge) with the BF and his kid- I doubt I'll be showing but I certainly won't be attractive in a baithing suit. I'm wondering what to do- should I just forgo playing in the water (the lazy river = mighty relaxing) or suck it up and look less than average in a baithing suit. I'm actually not a fan of community pool areas in the first place (had a bad experience getting a lougie [sp?] stuck in my hair once) but I'm not sure what else I would do without totally excluding my self from the boys.

 What would you guys do?

Re: Bikinis... Dare I say it?

  • Get a one piece or wear a tank top with your bikini.

  • Maybe you could wear one of those tankini's.  They have super cheap ones at target and old navy.
  • Wear the swimsuit. I wouldn't miss out on the fun just because you might not look totally amazing.

That said I'm going to a waterpark in 2 weeks. I'll won't really be showing, but I'm wearing my usual swimsuit although I know won't look all that great. I want to have fun too, I see no need to buy a different suit right now (it still fits good) either.

So I say screw it. Have fun!

  • wear what you will be comfie in! if you are comfie in a bikini then go for it.
  • I say rock the bikini.  I certainly wouldn't go buy something just for this occasion.  Who cares if you look less than stellar in a swimsuit?  If people ask, tell them you are KTFU.
  • And the great thing about public waterpark/pool areas is that there's someone there guaranteed to look 100Xs worse than you. Chances are no one else will even notice.

That's my consolation however mean it may be. Stick out tongue

  • Considering some of the people that rock a bikini at water parks, I will say that you will still be in the top 1%.

  • I'm loving these confidence building responses- love you guys!

I'll rock the bikini and hope for the best!!

  • Bikinis????

::throws self under desk and hides::

I'm going to Arizona the first week of April and I have a tank top bikini that I'm hoping I can still wear - my boobs are huge but I think I can pull it off and my bloat just makes me look fat. I'm still going out in it - people can laugh if they want... I'll probably cry :) Enjoy the water park - you deserve it!

Threre is a Wolf Lodge in Seattle, I've always thought it looked cool - tell me how it is!!

You and I can suffer in our bloated bodies and baithing suits together in spirit that week haha

And I will let you know how it goes I have to admit I am excited to see what it's all about I've heard great things about that place.

  • I agree wear the bikini! I plan on wearing a bikini as much as I can my pregnancy! lol

  • I live in southwest Florida where you can wear a swimming suit year round. I see enough people (male and female) down here prancing around in less fabric than it takes to make a bikini. Also, considering most of them are retirees it's easy to be much less body conscious down here. I went to the pool today in a bikini!

  • LMAO!!!  Gross!  I stopped going to public pools when I wore a mask and saw all the gunk floating in the water.  Nothing worse that getting someones long hair  woven between the fingers, however I think getting someone's snot caught in my hair probably takes the cake!

Water parks always seem to attract the most interesting people, so I'm sure you'll look just fine among some of the wildebeasts down at the watering hole.

  • If you think you'll have fun going in, then go!  That's the beauty of bikini's, they have no tummy, so fit during PG - so long as your butt doesn't get out of control. ;)  I also picked up some really cute and affordable maternity tankini's at Old Navy during my last PG, if you'll feel self-conscious with belly out.  Have fun and be careful - I don't think waterslides are allowed, but have a great time on the lazy river!

  • Bikinis I've always thought were so cute on pregnant woman. I went to great wolf lodge just  a weekend ago and wore mine and Ihave my little bump but I'm a  third time mommy and I enjoyed it!

Heads up though the lazy river at Great Wolf is not relaxing its not big enough to float down at a tranquil pace and there are so many kids racing that your getting bumped into walls quite a bit!

  • I'll be about 13 weeks when I go to San Diego and being it's my second pregnancy I will probably have some major bloat/minor bump.  I plan to rock a bikini but bring a matching tank top just in case I'm feeling ugly.  It's my thought that showing the bump is far more attractive than hiding it.

  • Tankini seems like the best answer in here :) Great wolf? The one in Sandusky?

Hello fellow Detroiter. She lives in Maryland I think so I imagine its a different one! Sandusky was fun but I like Kalahari better if you have to choose a water park but Kalahari is not better for 5yr. and under

  • Wear the bikini.  Its fine.
  • I went in November for a conference and I love it! I found the lodge to be very clean and nice quality. I went to their hair salon and got my ends cut for really cheap. We also played in the arcade, so much fun. If you want to eat at a nice place check out la yucca much better than the trellis IMO. Also do some shopping at the outlets, they have baby stores, :)

  • I am also not a fan of public pools....I would come prepared either way. "Bumps" are different from woman to woman so if you think your bump will be "too" big then a one piece or a wrap would work. Good Luck!

  • last summer I was pregnant at the beach and wore a tankini not maternity, and I was 8 months... I had a maternity bathing suit and it was just not cut right for a belly.  I just bought a few sizes bigger in women's.

  • Personally I think that this is the most incredible time of our lives and wether or not you look a little pudgy is not an issue...Im sure you are just a beautiful with a little extra baby weight as you were before. ?You may not feel attractive or even comfortable in your own skin especially in a bikini right now but your bf will adore the fact that you are carry his little miracle and will love how you look no matter what...and if anyone says ne thing snarky tell them to kiss your ass b/c your pregnant and you love yourself...just a thought...have fun on your trip.
  • Just go with it- if you are really self concious get a sarong and wrap it around you and over one shoulder- coverage but still cute.
