Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Come in if you've flown with DC

We've only ever driven on our little weekend vacations since they were 3-4 hours away. So since we usually have our own car its easy to pack anything and everything we'll need, including his diapers, wipes, and snacks. We'll be flying to D.C. next month with DS so of course now I'm thinking how to go about packing that stuff. Is it just easier to find a nearby CVS/Walgreens/Supermarket to just pick up our necessities that way we don't have to worry about packing it?

Re: Come in if you've flown with DC

  • I would pack what you are going to need to get you through a day or two and then find a CVS  to fill in the gaps. I know when we flew the diapers alone took up a ton of room. Thankfully our parents were driving to the destination and took a lot of our stuff.

  • We used diapers.com to ship not only diapers but snacks, baby wash, wipes and anything that was heavy.  I also shipped a box of stuff that was heavy/needed before we arrived to the hotel.  It was cheaper this way than paying extra at the airport and that way I was able to organize whatever I needed beforehand (rather than scrambling at a CVS or whatever at your destination).  I even shipped her sippy, cups, bibs and toddler utensils plus breakfast items for her.  It worked out great for everyone.

Yes, pack only what you need and buy everything else there! It makes life so much easier. Better yet.....if you are going to visit family, ask them to pick up some stuff for you to have when you get there :):)

    Have fun!

That's such a GREAT idea. Did you just call up your hotel to let them know that something was coming so that they knew to hold it aside for you?

  • Yup. I spoke with the front desk and they gave me all the shipping info I needed.  I made sure to ship it weel ahead of our arrival and called to ensure it got there.  I think my mother thought I was over the top but once we got there, I had everything I needed to survive outside of our home.  I was less stressed and DD was happy to have all of her snacks and whatnot on hand.  Oh and ship your tub mat too if you use one.
