MH doesn't do it but my MIL does. It's hard for me to hear because we've been having problems with nursing and then to hear her say, "She's still hungry" just makes me both sad and angry. She was like that with DS too, though. Still is actually.
My LC and the nurse who taught my BF class said to feed DS every time he licked his lips, cried, rooted, etc. It was a lot at first, but I think he got the hang of things faster that way, too.
Haha, my DH will do that. ?Not so much anymore, but definitely in the beginning. ?It sucked the most when he would wake me up like 10 minutes after I finally would get to sleep.
He does always think that. DD often spits up b/c she overfeeds when this happens. I try to explain to him that if she ate pretty recently, she could be bored, ready for a nap or overstimulated. It's getting better.....
My DH did the same thing. In his defense, DD did tend to stick her tongue out a lot and still does so she would look like she was rooting. But, it was like every 30 minutes...um...no...we would just be finishing a feeding and he would want me to feed her again. Over time, we both got better at seeing her hunger cues.
Hi, Sasha!! Welcome to the mommy-hood! I searched and searched for your announcement on SAIF but finally found it on the Birth Story board. So glad everything went great for you and I hope you are enjoying your little girl!!
I actually have the opposite problem w/ my husband. He's convinced I'm feeding her too much! I've tried to tell him that you can't overfeed a breastfed baby, but he's not convinced. The dr backed me up today. My little chunk has gained lots of weight and was 9lb 13oz at her 4 week checkup today. I can't believe how fast they grow!
Glad you tracked me down!! I posted on SAIF, but it probably got pushed down. I haven't been on as much since Petra is here, as I'm sure you know! That's awesome your little girl is gaining so well. Don't you just love being a mom?!
I probably should back off on my DH-- he's actually been awesome.
Re: Does DH always assume LO is hungry?
Usually that's the first thing he'll say.?
