DH and I would like to have our children close in age (we're not getting any younger!). ?I have a crappy umbrella stroller I got at my baby shower that I've been using for Natalie now that she likes facing forward. ?But it really sucks -- she's not the most comfortable in it, my feet kick the wheels, I feel like I have to stretch to hold it. ?Anyways, I was planning to get a new stroller this spring but now I'm not sure what I should do. ?If we have another child within the next year, do you think we'd need a double stroller? ?Natalie would still probably want to sit for long strolls (in the mall, museums, around the neighborhood) vs. just walking everywhere. ?I'm not sure if I should spend the money now to get a better lightweight/umbrella stroller that I may not use that long or just get a double now in anticipation of having more children. ?What do you think? ?Or what are you planning if you are hoping to have children close in age?
(My other option is to get Natalie a wagon and skip the stroller for now -- see my next post ?
Re: If you plan to have 2 close in age -- strollers
I'm not sure if I'm much help, but I know my girls do NOT like to be in a stroller for long periods of time anymore, they'd rather walk. ?Now, i do have a double umbrella stroller, but thats only because I had twins. ?When I go to the zoo, I let Jeremiah ride and the girls take turns walking and riding. ?if they both want to ride, then I can put Jeremiah in the front carrier while the girls ride, but that has yet to happen. ?the girls are MUCH happier walking, but not all kids do that. ?I suggest investing in a wagon, the one we have has 2 seats with seatbelts, so as soon as baby #2 can sit up you would be able to use that. ?Before that you could just use a front pack and wagon or stroller.
Just my opinion!?
We had someone give us a DuoGlider, so that is what we will use if we need them both in a single stroller. ?It is long, but it is not wide and I was worried about aisles and space with a side by side double stroller in the grocery store or Target. ?I also plan to wear the new baby often and just push DD.
DD has a Maclaren and I will probably just get another single one when the time comes. ?They make clips that you can attach them with and I would just do that if I had to (such as being out by myself). ?Otherwise, I plan to walk one and DH the other.
Who knows though how it will all work out - this is just my hypothetical experience.?
I didn't realize they made clips to attach them. ?That might be a better option than investing in a double because I'm really not that excited to be lugging a double around if not necessary.?
My Sweet Girls
Our first one isn't here yet however IF we have another one it will be a long time due to all the reasons mentioned above. DH helps out a lot but he still doesn't see a lot of the things I do behind the scenes to make our life easier ie scheduling appts (dr., pest control, contractors), keeping up with the dogs food and meds, finances, etc. He thinks what I do is a cake walk compared to him cleaning the house for the most part but it is more than he thinks.
That along with the cost of a second child it will be a long time if ever considering I will always work outside the home.
I applaud all of you who have two plus children because in this economy it is probably very difficult.
ETA: I just realized this post was about strollers. Sorry about that
I have this stroller: Graco Quattro Tour DuoGlider
We absolutely LOVE it. I had the single version for Brooks and now with Caroline it's perfect. They are 18.5 months apart in age. I'll eventually want a double jogger, but there are many places I go that a side by side won't fit in the aisles, so I needed the front/back and it holds the baby carrier!
