Strollers for long-legged/tall DH's?

We went to BRU this evening to try out some lightweight/umbrella strollers. My DH is 6'1" with a long stride and every stroller (except the Maclaren's) he would kick the back of the stroller or wheels. I really wasn't wanting to spend a bunch of money but I also don't want him to have to push the stroller standing to the side of it! Anyone have any recs? TIA!

Re: Strollers for long-legged/tall DH's?

  • We went with a Bob stroller for this reason (I'm 5' 10"). Not sure about lightweight or umbrella strollers. We lucked out and got the Bob when it was 20% off at REI.

  • I'm interested in responses to this too.  I've looked at the inexpensive umbrella strollers and don't see how they will work for us either.  I'm 5'11" and DH is 6'4" and they're just too little.  Our Chico travel system works great - it has an adjustable handle (it's just so big and bulky).  But I would really like to find a lightweight/umbrella stroller too.

  • That is one of the reasons we ended up going with the Maclaren - comfort for DH. ?I even felt like I was close to leaning over on some of the cheaper umbrella strollers and I am short!

We got our Quest for $109 at Albee baby, so definitely look around online to see if you can get a better deal than BRU prices. ?I don't love the pattern, but I didn't care for that price difference!

I know Wendy has an umbrella Graco IPO she loves, maybe she can give you some input on it.?

  • Dh is 6'5 and I'm 5'7 I have a Malaren Volo and the Chicco Trevi double. We haven't had any trouble with either of them. He hasn't made one complaint yet. I love both of the strollers.
  • We are very tall also (5'11 & 6'4) and we have the Chicco Capri as our lightweight/umbrella stroller. It certainly is not my favorite stroller for us to use b/c of the legroom situation, but it was the best of what was available in that price range.
  • I'm not tall, but must have a long stride or something, because every stroller we tested I kicked the wheels on.  We were really considering the Chicco Capri, but after strolling it around the store for awhile I just couldn't take it.  So we went with the Maclaren.  I found a great deal on a new one on Ebay, so if that's what you decide on, definitely do some looking online.

  • Thanks guys! I'll definitely be searching online for the maclaren deals...BRU prices are way too high for us! Yeah, DH tried the Graco Ipo, Chicco, and another (can't remember the name) and he would kick every single time... :(
