Geez you guys perhaps she used the word babysitting wrong, the post wasn't meant to bring flames
Caroline that is hilarious, it's also the main reason i am leary of letting DH have anything to do with feeding ike, lol
No kidding! I guess I should preface this with, normally I am a single mom for 4 days a week...so when he's home for awhile it takes a bit to adjust.Phew, that was long explanation!
PS- Ike is sooo cute. We should get them together for a playdate soon!
i am all about the playdate! Ike has so much fun with totty's mouse I am also a "single" mom most of the time, lol. DH works mon-sat so i am usually at home with ike and i'm pretty sure he is sick of momma in his face all the time, lol
I understand the babysit part. My DH is home so rarely it's almost like he is babysitting. I'll come home and ask if he's changed DS recently and he'll look at me like "uh oh"

Yep. When I got home DD smelled a little ripe. I just picked her up and went straight for the bath! Some nights I don't get out of my work clothes until she's asleep. That's how much help he is when he's in town.
Gah, I keep telling myself he just needs to get used to her routine.
I admit it, i'm giving the side-eye to any parent who doesn't have the common sense to feed their own child, regardless of whether that parent is around a lot or not.

Well, to be truthful he DID feed her. He's just not used to feeding meals yet, we just started that recently.

how is it common sense when i see moms who are with their kids all the time ask questions about feedings and what others are feeding their child. If i were to ask DH what and how much does ike eat at meal time he would be clueless. Doesn't make him a bad parent, it just means that in my house DH works his a$$ off and can't be home when ike eats so he simply doesn't know.
I totally feel your pain! It seems like just when DH got all the bottle stuff down we started solids and now when he is alone with her (I won't call it babysitting! The horror!) I get a million texts and calls. I have learned to write her feeding schedule on a white board on the fridge and put all the food out on the counter or in the front of the fridge so there is no confusion. Sometimes it gets a little stressful having 2 babies - DH and DD!
My DH is also pretty clueless on the feeding front - though he tries hard. We had a similar experience where he gave DS a bottle but never thought about babyfood, shortly after we started solids. Another time he was complaining that DS never eats for him - I looked closer and noticed he was trying to feed him cold squash mixed with oatmeal for breakfast (he assumed from the color that the squash was peaches or some other sort of fruit).

I'm not talking about asking questions and comparing feeding notes. I maintain that if a parent doesn't have the SENSE to feed (and change) their own child while that child is in their care then there is something wrong with that.
I call it babysitting when I am in the OTHER room! I can't complain though he lets me stay home so it is all good. Changing a diaper is a bonus at my house! Feeding?! Not unless specifically told to do so and given the food all prepped and ready....
Re: This is what happens when DH babysits
babysitting???? your own child???
is it babysitting if it's her dad?
That is what I was thinking. Dads don't babysit their own children.

I hear ya! We met up with nybride last week, the girls had so much fun. They're exactly the same age so it was fun to see them interact!
I work 3 evenings a week, so early afternoons at the park would be great. E-mail me when ya'll go again.

It's not babysitting when it's your own child. That's called parenting.

OK. Read any of my other responses.

Your daughter, is so cute, by the way!
That is my DH 100%, lol
Sorry, I read babysitting and didn't read the responses.
At least she had bottles. They have to learn, too, and if they're not down in the trenches with us, they're bound to be imperfect while learning.
