Baby Story - WTH?

Okay, I am watching A Baby Story and this couple was told that they were having twin boys and they had twin girls! What? The doctors got both wrong! I am starting to question the ultrasounds now. I would love to see any boy u/s pics out there for anyone who wants to share.

Re: Baby Story - WTH?

  • I saw that too!  I understand that it's probably more difficult with twins, like the doc said, everything is crammed in there.  But getting both of them wrong?  I don't have my u/s pics in my computer, but it was um, obvious I'm having a boy.

  • I watched that.  I loved how the Dr said "The umbilical cord looked like a little penis in the ultrasound."

  • I've been told 3 times we're having a boy but I'm still planning a girl name just in case. (Luckily we're not buying anything before baby comes so no worries re: nursery/clothes/etc.)

  • I had a lady at my job tell me she was told she was having a girl. Everything she purchased even the bed was very gender specific and then she had a boy.

She said all of the bedding and clothing was pastel. She was mortified.

  • Um, our baby's penis was pretty obvious in the u/s. Even I caught it. What a shock for that couple!
  • I saw that too! I would be super pissed if I bought all that boy stuff and had to return almost all of it!

  • It happened to a friend of mine about a month ago. they were told all along they were having a girl and out came a boy! I think it would be very hard to deal with. Thinking you are having one and you have another. We don't find out so it is not an issue. But do you guys think it would be hard to be told you were having one and another came out?
  • I think it would be a shock. You get used to idea of it being one or the other and not to mention the shopping and planning. I thought it seemed pretty obvious from the ultrasound that we are having a boy, but I am no ultrasound tech or doctor. On the show, the doc confused it with the umbilical cord.

I think it would be very hard thinking it's one and then it comes out another.  The nursery is set up.  The name is picked.  I'm sure you'd love the baby regardless, but I still think it would almost feel like "losing" the baby you thought you were having.  I feel like I'm not explaining it right, but I def think it would be difficult.

  • Wow, that has to be rough! My little dudes' pics are in my blog. I think it's pretty obvious that he is a HE.

  • I think it's probably pretty common. I've heard this mistake happening way too much.  It happened with my brother.  My mom was told she was having a girl.  She even worked at the hospital at the time as an x-ray tech so she had access to the u/s machine whenever.  So everything was pink, they had a girl's name picked out, etc. and .. out came a boy!!  My grandma had to run out and buy a boy's outfit to put on him and my dad had to come up with a name on the fly!

  • My moms doc told her both my brother and I were boys. Obviously he was only 50% right! Of course, my mom said back when I was born you could look at u/s pics all day and hardly be able to tell if it was a baby, much less the sex.
  • Ha that happend to my SIL with her first, everything was blue, orange and green. It was bad haha
