Pregnant after a Loss

When can you identify body parts?

At my last appt, I was amazed that the OB could very quickly and easily press on my stomach and tell me baby's position. I can't even identify a hard spot in my belly to guess if it might be a head or butt. Maybe I'm not pressing hard enough?

How far along were you when you were able to figure out baby's position on your own? I was fairly thin before getting pg and haven't gained a ton of weight, so I thought this would be easier by now. I have my 28wk appt next week, and I might ask the OB then to help me figure it out.

Re: When can you identify body parts?

  • I never could with my DD.  When she flipped at 37 weeks, I had no idea.. I couldn't tell top from bottom!

  • My ob did that on monday and it freaked me out. I think I felt his butt last night pushing against my right side. I only think its the butt b/c he was also kicking that way. I've been trying to feel things ever since monday.

  • I still can't tell.
  • I would love to know, but I can't tell either
  • For the last week or so, this little guy has been pushing up really hard right at the top of my bump with either his head or his butt - I can't tell!  My doctor has never mentioned that she could tell but I'm definitely going to ask at my appointment next week.  I want to know what part of him I'm pushing back against!
