Hmm.. we never gave anything to the priest after either baptism but we did put a little more in the offering that week than we usually do so I guess it's the same thing.
When I asked the board moms this question last fall when DD was baptized the dollar amounts were all across the spectrum from $0 to $100, so I asked a few couples in our church with young children if they would mind telling me what they did. I think it is very different parish to parish. The average at our parish was $10-50. We did $30 and also gave him a book from a local Catholic store called "Daily Reflections from the Popes" it was short 2-3 line reflections written by various popes, one for each day of the year. He really liked it.
Re: What to give to priest that will do the baptizing?
smack on the tush as we sprint out of the sanctuary on our way to brunch...
no? fine, go with the monetary dontation thing.
I am trying to figure out the same thing! I was thinking of a nice pen. Priests use pens a lot, right?
Or what about a nice bottle of wine? We are Greek, so I know it will be put to good use, don't know if that would be appropriate for you.
LOL!!!
That was us...
