might be moving to worcester!!

i know this board is slow but i am just posting to find out about the area. i've heard there are nice areas of town and kinda shady areas. Can anyone tell me anything about the town? thanks!

    Hi there! I work in Worcester, and there are definitely some nice places and some not-so-nice places. Not a whole lot of in-between places, so you have to be careful about where you end up.  If you can live in a town outside of Worcester, that would be preferable.  All of the surrounding towns are much nicer than Worcester itself.  Shrewsbury, Auburn, Sutton, and Millbury are all great towns.  If you have to live in Worcester itself, try to find a place north-west of WPI, like in the Salisbury Street area.  Do not live downtown, whatever you do!!!  Shrewsbury street isn't bad, but it's busy.  Despite the sketchy sections, there's actually a lot of good restaurants in Worcester.  DH and I go out ot eat a lot, and there's a whole range of places from high-end steakhouses to sushi places to mom-and-pop home cooking, and everything in between.

    I lived in Worcester for 4 years while in college.  I agree with PP... if you can live in a surrounding town, that would be a good idea.  If not, you can find some good areas of the city. 

    I liked Worcester though! Plenty of things nearby and a little over an hour from Boston.

    hi... i also responded to another one of your posts as well.  I love Worcester and the surrounding towns.  I've lived here my whole life.  It's like any other big city, bad areas and good areas.  It's a great location for a commuter though, with a lot of major highways in and out.  I love it here.  I lived in Worcester until I was 24, then bought a house in Millbury, and recently sold and bought a bigger house in Holden.  HTH

    i live in Worcester, it has its good parts and bad, i live more towards the holden line. there are some very nice areas and neighborhoods, there are good restaurants and night life.
