I have been on bedrest for a while know so the boys feeding schedule has not changed alot. I am trying to figure out a plan on moving the boys to cows milk. Right now the boys are on baby food still. They get table food but it is just when we are eating something. I know I need to make it in a meal and go away from baby food. I need to make a list for DH and MIL. How much table food at each feeding? do you give food first or bottle first? sorry for all the questions
Re: examples of your 1 year olds menu
DD has always been a great eater. She stopped purees at 9 months as she refused them.
Breakfast- 1/2 scrambled egg and toast
Snack- A handful of grapes
Lunch- Ham, Cheese chunks, sliced avocado and crackers. (hard to say how much as sometimes she wants extra and other days I throw a lot of it away
Snack- Yogurt (1/2 cup)
Dinner- 1/2 cup of Pasta w/chicken and tomato sauce and she will eat tons of peas.
Snack- Mini oranges (4-5)
She also eats arrowroot cookies and puffs randomly throughout the day.
It's kind of hard to answer your question about amounts b/c your boys are so much bigger than Campbell but she does eat mostly table foods. She usually eats oatmeal or whole milk plain yogurt at breakfast with a fruit of some sort. I buy a lot of frozen fruits and just set a serving size in the fridge the night before to let them thaw. She loves peaches, blueberries, raspberries (warning-very messy), banana, and unsweetened applesauce. For lunch she might have a fruit or veggie (I'll stick frozed peas or broccoli in the microwave with a little bit of water for a minute) with a piece of cheese toast (her absolute fave), or 1/2 a gardenburger, or whole milk cottage cheese with a fruit or pureed veggie mixed in, a small cheese quesadilla sometimes with chicken or beans, or whatever we have leftover from the night before. For dinner, a lot of times she just eats some of what we're eating. I feed her until she refuses the food rather than having set amounts.
As far as milk...well, we're still on formula until her adjusted birthday. Right now, her schedule is this (imagine a couple of hours between each step):
wake up and get a 6 oz bottle
eat breakfast then take a nap
get small bottle when she wakes up from nap
eats lunch then takes a nap
gets small bottle after nap
eats a small snack (crackers, cheerios, fruit, etc)
eats dinner, then bath, very small bottle, and bed
I haven't yet figured out if I should or how to move her bottles closer to her meal time. Right now this is working for us... I would like to wean her down from 4 bottles to 3 but...
Breakfast- half a banana or 2 strawberries, 1/4 of a waffle (full size waffle not an eggo size waffle) or a yo-baby yogurt or 1/2 a piece of toast
Lunch- leftovers from dinner the night before or 4 of 5 grapes or half a pear or half a banana, with some goldfish crackers, cheese, and some meat of some sort
Snack- a banana cookie, cheese, cheerios, etc.
Dinner- Whatever we are having
My skinny minnie loves to eat, she is starting to get a pot belly lol some days I worry I feed her too much but I just follow her ques.
Breakfast- 5oz milk first so she'll hold off till I get her food ready. She'll eat 2 mini pancakes w/ 1/2 banna or 3/4 banana waffle w/ peaches.
Snack- 3/4 tub of yoguart w/ oatmeal and cut up fresh blueberries or peaches.
Lunch- 5oz milk slice of turkey, peas/carrots, and a whole string cheese.
Snack- Applesauce w/ oatmeal and a few handfuls of Puffs w/ 5 oz milk
Dinner- Ravollis w/ tomato sauce, cheese, peas/carrots or 1/2 grilled cheese w/ veggies.
Right before bed she gets 5oz of milk too.
Your boys are SO cute!! DS still eats a lot of purees. I figure I might as well let him b/c it is a good way for him to get veggies/protein. Other "non baby food" foods he likes are Annie's canned cheese raviolis and pasta "o's", pasta w/ tomato sauce, Earth's Best blueberry waffles, chunky applesauce, Yobaby yogurt, cheese toast, cheese, cooked carrots, banana, kiwi...not much, really. We keep trying meats, etc. but he wants no part of them.
Oh, re: bottles, he has them at different times:
Breakfast 9
Bottle 11 before nap
Lunch 1
Bottle 3:30 before nap
Dinner 6
Bottle 8:30 before bed
If he wakes up it is at 4-5 and he may have a bottle then too
I'm feeling the exact same way
One day he would love the purees and other day none at all. I've recently decreased his formula and that's helped alittle. But I know he is not eating enought table food. I tried making my own food and it's the same thing. But poor guy loves his formula....and I feel like he wants more of it.
