Pregnant after 35

NPR: Recommend your face cream!

I used to use Arbonne and loved it but it's a bit pricey. I'm debating going back though because I haven't found anything I like as well. My skin seems so dry and wrinkly lately, esp. that pesky forehead wrinkle.

Right now, I'm open to recommendations! I don't want to try a bunch of random stuff just because Sarah Jessica Parker or Andie McDowell advertise it!

  • Oh I'm TOTALLY with you - the whole celeb face cream thing makes me NUTS.

I use something that I get when I go to Europe on business (sounds so schmancy, but it's STUPID cheap.)    It's Nivea brand-  but much to my chagrin, they don't MAKE the line of face products in the USA... only in Europe.    It's a water based moisturizer, and i love it- but when i run out, I hit the ole standby.

Drugstore.com is having a BOGO deal on a lot of Olay products right now - you can get some decent deals :)

They're good products, and they don't break the bank!

  • My skin is very dry & flakey after the shower & I have to use toner & lotion otherwise it looks like I have facial dandruff. I have used Clinique for years. Might be about $20, not sure how that compares to Arbonne.

  • I might retry Clinique. I used to love it when I lived in Toronto, but it just doesn't fight the dryness here in CO (or maybe my skin has changed).

My mom and sister swear by Nivea, but I find the cream here in the US too heavy.

I have sensitive skin and what has worked for me is Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer Moisturizer with 30 SPF.  It isn't the cheapest but works great and I've been very happy with the results.  I've also had good luck with the Astara line (Sephora carries both).

  • I have tried a lot of different kinds.  For a while there, I was really liking Clinique's "standard" moisturizer.  The name escapes me, but it's the yellow one that's part of the 3-step skin care regimen.

However, I decided to try Avon's ANEW line and I absolutely LOVE it.  It gets rave reviews from Allure, Glamour, etc., and they were having a great sale, so I tried it.  They have both a day and a night version and I use both of them.  It is AWESOME.

I do use Clinique's eye area cream though.

  • I've never been a fan of Clinique's skin care line?though I like their makeup. I tend to stick to Neutrogena products or Dove, though Dove seems to have discontinued their moisturizer.

I bought Purpose at Walgreens today. My old dermatologist used to recommend it. It has a SPF of 15, which is fine for daily use when not in the sun.

I have acne?not terrible acne, but I have it. Pre-pregnancy I used Proactiv but have nixed Salicylic Acid completely. I'm using Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile facial cleanser and it's helped with the breakouts. I'd love to try their face cream, but I haven't seen it anywhere and am not ready to buy online.

  • In the summer I like to use Dermalogica's Dynamic Skin Recovery, SPF 30 moisturizer. Love their whole line.

In the winter, since I live in the Chicago area and our winters are so extreme, I need a little extra moisture, so I use Perricone, MD's Face Finishing Moisturizer. It is expensive, but works so good on me. I like the toner and face wash too.

Both Dermalogica and Perricone have sample kits that you can buy to try the products first before you make the big $$ commitment.

I so wish I could use Olay products, I am highly allergic to something in their moisturizers.

  • I used to use clinique, somewhat to heavy for my skin now and causes breakouts...

I have good skin normally , with combination dry in patches and slightly oily on forehead...

I have also used Mary Kay in the past, but now expecting daughter so I am watching my budget and found that Neutrogena sensitive skin, oil free formula is perfect...about 10 bucks at target! Just enough to balance my skin and not leave it dry / too oily!

  • I have used Mary Kay's TimeWise for years. It is wonderful for ageless skin and is formulated to your skin type.
