1. I am planning on registering for a few different bottle brands, do you think baby will get confused if I use all the different bottles? My nieces both just used and accepted whatever bottle they were given, but they were not BF.
2. I am getting the Lansinoh breast pump, how do I know what bottles are compatable with it?
Re: Questions about breastfeeding and bottles
Basically there is wideneck and narrowneck bottles, most of the teats can match with one of those. So if you choose Nuk bottles you won't fit Avent teats on them, but you will fit all the narrowneck bottles.?
I've heard on here the Lansinoh is the same as the Ameda but I have no other evidence for that so check, but for the Ameda I used nuk bottles for collection as well as to try to feed DS.
Many babies won't take a bottle, period. When they don't it is almost never because of the teat. So I wouldn't worry too much about teats except that nuk is best for avoiding orthodontics later on :-)
And yes we tried 6 different teats at the insistence of stupid DCP who claimed it was our fault DS wouldnt take it. That's how I turned up the evidence that trying different bottles works about 5% of the time.?
Nuk is a brand of bottle, teat is the bottle's nipple.
We registered for Avent (with the adapters to make the tops small to work with most non-Avent pumps) and Dr. Brown's bottles. Now I wish I hadn't registered for Dr. Brown's because they aren't necessary. Our DD uses Avent, Nuby, and even the cheapo Gerber bottles with ease. We tried a bottle with her the first time at 4 weeks with no problem.
Avent bottles are nice because they are easy to clean, work well if you do end up having to use formula, are sturdy and easy to read. I also have the Avent Isis manual pump (have the electric pump at work and the manual at home when engorged) so these bottles work for it well.
My Medela pump came with four storage containers and I have found any basic bottle brand works on it to collect milk. I think Lanisoh is the same.
