Baby Movement Question

Hey ladies. I didn't really want to ask this in the 3rd tri board because they don't seem very nice over there. Anyhow, I feel the baby moving a lot lately, but some days (like today) I haven't really felt much movement at all. Is that something to worry about or are there "off days" when they just don't move as much?

Thanks!

Re: Baby Movement Question

  • I'm no doctor, so I can't say it's normal, but my doctor asked me to count 10 kicks/moves a day, if not to call him. I really didn't have much of this issue with Ayden, since he was very active. You can always drink OJ, Mountain Dew, something cold/citrus that will make the baby move. If you still don't feel it, then call your doctor, that's what they are there for.

  • yeah you should have at least 1 hour per day where you feel 10 kicks in that hour. if not, call your doc!
  • When in doubt- call your dr just for reassurance. The girls had some good suggestions about things to drink to get the baby active.

That being said- my mom says I was a LAZY baby and barely moved in her tummy! ;-) She said she would worry and worry and worry. Turns out though, I was perfectly fine as you can see.

  • I had days where Riley wasn't too active at all-and other days she seemed to be doing back flips and high kicks in there! After a day or so of minimal baby movement I would take notice and pay extra close attention to her but the next day I'd have movement again. If you are having any doubts definitely phone your Dr. Like the girls said, that's what they are there for.

  • Thanks so much for all your help! Well, he started moving, I guess he's just more active at night. I hadn't really paid attention to it before but then I was reading "What to Expect" and it says how much the baby's supposed to move and I kind of started to worry. Either way I have a doctor's appointment this week so I'll ask him then (IF I don't feel it at all, but I'm definitely going to be paying more attention now).

     Thanks again!!!

  • Yes, babies are normally more active at night only because during the day since we're constantly moving we don't notice.

Never hesitate to call your doctor though... better to be safe than sorry.
