TTC After a Loss

Poll: Did/does your DH have a problem with TTC treatmenst?

Is he open minded to have Clomid, IUI, IVF or does want to try natural only?

If he did have issues with it, was it hard to convince him to try all ways possible?

  • We have not talked about this yet. Right now, I'm going to focus on doing everything we can on our own, then go to the dr. and see what they suggest in order to figure out what our issue is. I'm sure once I get to the point of going to the dr., we'll talk about what we're comfortable with. I'm just not ready to talk super seriously about IF, even though I've started saying "if" we have children, not "when."

  • DH was a little nervous when we did IUI the first time, the whole thought of a room with porn and a cup was overwhelming, but by day 2 and the next time we did it he was fine.  Now he won't do IUI since all 3 times we got pregnant was natural.
  • He is not ok with IVF but I think that is $ related.  I have tried the adoption route with him and he won't even think about it at this point.  Its been a few months since I mentioned adoption so I might try again.  He is ok with the clomid and acupuncture that I have been trying since Dec.
  • DH said he liked the idea of it being natural but said he trust my decision and would do what I say..... good DH!

  • Great poll!

My dh is 50/50 really.  I think I can "convince" him to let me get on Clomid and for us to do an IUI. He's fine with an IUI.  But he's already expressed that he would prefer to keep trying naturally and does not want to explore IVF.

I honestly think you can't write something off until you are there.  Personally, I would go as far as adoption.

  • In the beginning, he felt like it was kind of weird.  However, after discovering he has MFI he was on board 100%.  I think he felt guilty and he loosened the purse strings a little bit.
  • We haven't really talked about this yet either. Our next step is charting, and he's on board with that. He has said that we have gotten KU naturally so he has no concern with it not happening again. And since I've had a full term pregnancy, and he's had a child it's not something we are bringing up at this point. I think he would be willing to try whatever it takes, if it came down to it.

  • He does not accept that he is the one with a problem (low volume and low motility). As long as I say it's "me" he is fine with it.

However he is completely against adoption. :(

  • My DH is supportive of everything- he just wants me to be happySmile  and he knows I just really want a baby!!  I think for him he is going to be OK either way and hates seeing me stressed and upset- and knows that I go through WAY much more than him in terms of appointments and testing

DH didn't want to be the one with a problem either,he has low motility and is also against adoption but I think I can change his mind if needed. It sucks your DH is completely against it though =(

  • While we'd love to be able to get pg "naturally" we both know that will never happen and have excepted the fact that i/f related treatments (both meds and actual iui & ivf cycles) are what will get me pg.

We're both on the same page when it comes to i/f treatments.

  • My DH (not married but feel married for 7 yrs.) is against the financial part of it, so I pay for it and ask him for some of it. He would fall over if he knew how much meds,US, everything costs. He was upset when he had bad (really bad) morph so has been great with his vitamins ever since #'s improved. He was so devastated after the MC I dont think he could take another one so next time I have a BFP Im thinking about waiting for a good US before I tell him.

  • My DH thinks it's silly for me to be spending all this money on trying to get pg, but he's supportive of it through IUI. He was fine with the clomid and my HSG and lap surgery. He didn't really want to do IUI at first and said it isn't "natural", but he agreed to try it for 3 months and see since it is our last resort. We can't afford IVF, and he wouldn't do that anyway - not sure I would want to go that far either actually, but if money weren't an issue I'm sure I'd want to try it at least once. Neither of us wants to adopt, so we're on the same page there. He knows how much I want this so he softened on the IUI, but this really is our last option financially - so I pray that #2 works!
  • When TTC #1 back in 2007, he was very stuck on going "natural".  Now having known what it was like to hold your own lil one and knowing that I have PCOS, he's pretty much up for anything that will help us make another baby.
