So, I live in a 10 unit apartment building where DH and I own our unit. OUr neighbor, who rents is always outside smoking cigarettes so i can never have our back door open, which also leads out to a really nice patio.
Now, as I am sitting here, i can smell pot from his apartment! I know its coming from him because i can hear him coughing!
I am annoyed because I am pregnant and shouldnt be exposed to something like this, but seriously, what can I do?
WWYD?
Re: pot smell in building WWYD
I agree...call the police...although being the overly hormonal pregnant lady...I'd bang on his door and let him know I was calling them! LOL! j/k!
Seriously, call the police.

Cigarette smoke is bad. Pot smoke, however, will not harm your baby. It's not even the smoke that is in your apartment, it's the smell. While I don't think the smell is appealing, the smell itself will not harm your baby. Even if you smoked it sometimes it probably wouldn't harm your baby.
I already know that not one person will agree with what I just wrote
i agree, i would let it go for now. if it continues, i'd do something.
I say it does suck bc pot stinks. But it's not unhealthy for you or the baby as long as there isn't smoke coming into your apt which isn't likely. It's just the smell, you won't get high from it. It's just like if someone is drinking liquor around you. You can smell it but you're not going to get drunk from it. Don't call the cops, it' his apt and his business, at least i wouldn't personally.
If it really bothers you then knock on his door and let him know it's bothering you and that you know what he's up to.
Honestly I'd go talk to your neighbor, and if it doesn't work threaten to call his landlord and then the cops. Most likely the cops aren't going to do anything if you call them anyway except take your complaint. I live very near you in JC and we have the same problem with our neighbors. It's so annoying.
You can call the police but I doubt they'll do anything.
HJ's going to be in for a wild ride of second-hand pot at the DMB concert
Definitely report it if it's bothering you. For the time being, if it makes you feel any better -- an OB/MD I used to work for (a former dope smoking hippie, but an excellent doctor with a great reputation) actually encouraged his daughter (my friend) to smoke a little weed during her two pregnancies, to ease her nausea. Don't get me wrong, I'm not endorsing it because I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject, but apparently a number of studies on marijuana use during pregnancy show that moderate use/exposure is not harmful.
Again, I'm not saying I'd do it, and you certainly shouldn't have to put up with your neighbors' smelly drug use -- I just thought that might ease your mind about the fumes!
I wouldn't do nothing.....you are in your home & you should not have to smell nor be around anythign like that. Call your landlord if you have one & if they can't do anything call the police.....you don't just want to let it go & it gets worse......& then you have the baby at home & he/she is inhaling that smell as well. Whether or not it is harmful or not it is ILLEGAL.
I'm really weird and actually like the smell of pot. If I were you, I would just knock on the guys door and tell him that since you are pregnant, your senses are really high and it's making your morning sickness flair up (even if it's not true).
At least then he'll understand that it's really bothering you, and you were nice enough to tell him rather than have him busted for something that's pretty much harmless.
If the smell is bothering you, you could turn on the oven vent and/or just the fan on your thermostat to clean up the air.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, but it's an inconvenience you shouldn't have to put up with. If it's constant, maybe invest in an air purifier...
I actually agree with what you wrote
It is much more dangerous to consume caffeine, be around cigarette smoke, drink a glass of wine, ect while pregnant than it is to smell your neighbor toking up.
I agree with you too...I'd personally rather smell pot than inhale cigarette smoke any day, pregnant or not.
If it really bothers you, I'd talk to him about it. Calling the cops seems like a drastic move to me, especially if this isn't something that happens often.
