Okay, I'm reaching the point of desperation...any tips on how to get this baby moving? I've been at 4cm, 80% effaced, station -1 since at least Wednesday. I'm scheduled to be induced on Friday if she still isn't here. I REALLY don't want to be induced.
Were there any tricks that really worked for you (aside from castor oil)? I don't think I have had any contractions, Just have had some cramping and it felt like she was head butting me in the vagina last night but that's about it.
Re: Advice for a 40 weeker please....
Mine was 10 days late...and I had the same progress you did. They just seem to come when they're ready. Sorry I don't have anything more encouraging.
What about stripping membranes?
Sorry, I tried all the OWTs and I was still induced at 41 weeks. "Natural" induction techniques won't start labor if your baby isn't ready. They come when they want.
But anything can happen in the next 4 days. Take a lot of walks, have sex, etc. and maybe you will at least help things along.
I understand your frustration. I was there too. I tell you, scheduling that induction is almost like an eviction notice! It seems like everyone I know who scheduled their induction had their kid a day or two ahead of time!
In all seriousness, lots of water, sex and walking are the only things I've heard. Water prevents false labor.
I had no contractions monday AM and was in labor tuesday night and gave birth the next day around 1 PM. So you can go quite quickly!
My DD came a week or so early, so I never got into the desperate "get this baby out now!" stage... I can say that my water broke after I went to a Sharks game which involved me climbing tons and tons of stairs, not sure if that had anything to do with it.
PP, I have definitely noticed the link between nipple stimulation and uterine contractions, so I do believe there's truth to that.
And, FWIW, I really didn't want to be induced either. But, contractions never started for me after my water broke so they induced me. In the end, I feel like I had a great birth experience, even though I was SO anti-induction beforehand.
I had a good birth experience too, even though I was induced.
The only thing bad about those two weeks past my due date was the dread about being induced. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have been miserable.
If you really don't want to be induced, just ask your doctor if you can wait longer.
I had a very successful induction at 38 weeks (pre-e). You're far enough progressed that yours will likely go very well also.
The baby will come when they want.... their called OWT for a reason
I know it must be hard waiting around, but try your best to relax and take it easy!
