Babies on the Brain

Hey 3rd Tri Girls / New Moms

Okay, I've seen it mentioned here but never paid attention or read what the deal with it was.

For the first time, I think I experienced this "lightning crotch" thing last night.

Brief, shooting pains that seem to originate from my cervix and don't feel so good.

I fumbled through several of my books last night and not one mentioned this issue.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about and tell me what the heck this is?

TIA

  • I've had a couple instances of what I assumed was lightning crotch, but it was so mild that I didn't bother looking into it further or pay much attention to it.  Sorry.

  • I believe the real name is round ligamant pain.

  • Yes, I had this when I was in the 3rd trimester.  I would feel it the most when I was walking and the extra weight and pressure of the baby would give me quick shooting pains in my cervix.  I just chalked it up to my cervix was getting softer and getting ready for labor.  I do not miss that!
  • Yup.  RLP or lightning crotch.

    Hurts like a sonofabitch, eh?
