Is it ok to bring a 6 week old in the pool with you? Is there a sunblock that is safe for that age? I have a hat and bathing suit....it's going to be 84 today and it'd be nice to go for a swim.
If it is a chlorinated pool, I would be more concerned about the chemicals.

I would ask your pedi, some say to wait. But we're going to California this week and I ask the doctor if I could take DD in the pool and he said it's fine since she's healthy and doesn't have sensitive skin. He did say to give her a bath afterwards to wash off the chlorine. I also got the OK for sunblock.
Personally, I think that's way too young. Among my concerns would be the chemicals and that babies can't regulate their body temperatures very well - the pool is likely too cold.
I would ask your pedi. ?If you're going to use sunblock that young, I'd probably get the California Baby Super Sensitive sunblock and as your pedi about it. ?You probably wouldn't be able to keep him in the water for long as he cannot regulate his body temp very well. ?
Good luck!?

I started taking DS to the pool at our YMCA at about 8 weeks old. On the days that the pool is super warm he's fine, but if the temperature is a couple degrees off we only stay in for a couple minutes otherwise his little lips start turning colors. He loves swimming! We go straight for a warm shower as soon as we get out of the pool.
I called my pedi...waiting for a call back. The pool is a heated public pool, but I can understand the bacteria and chemicals thought. So, even if I don't take him in the water, I'd like to know if there is sunblock that's ok for him just in case he's exposed to sun. Otherwise I'll keep him in the shade. Well, pedi just called back and she said no sunscreen until he's 6 months!! It's going to be hard here in Florida....oh well, shade-- here we come!

My ob said no sunscreen before 6 months old.
Is it your personal pool or a community pool? I would say if it is your personal pool than I would be comfy doing it otherwise probably not.
