newb with a question.... don't laugh

so this is the first time i've posted. i've lurked since early on in 1st tri, so i know this is going to sound like a dumb question, but i've yet to see anyone ask it. this afternoon i realized that my belly button had this sticky fluid in it. i just thought that maybe i didn't get it rinsed out in the shower or something. but since then, it continues to fill with this fluid. it's clear, there is no blood, but it smells funny. i googled it, but can't come up with any answers. just thought i would see if any of you have had this problem. btw... i'm 18wks. just tried to add a ticker, but not sure if it worked or not. tia

  • Is it coming from your belly button or from the whole of a belly ring??

    Have you already tried Google?

  • no belly ring, actual belly button. i've googled it several different way and all i come up with is call your dr. which i can't do until tomorrow. just wondered if anyone else maybe knew of anything.
  • I feel bad for stating this but i feel this is a joke.

5 posts... belly button leaking fluid?  but not from a belly button ring? sounds like you need a shower

1st of all, Thank You for Googling first. And I agree, call your Dr. He/she should have a weekend/night line that will answer. You aren't far enough along to have your uterus behind your belly button yet but it is a weird enough occurrance that I would still call.

Ouch.  She said in her OP she thought it was from the shower.  I would definitely call and ask tomorrow.  If anything it will put your mind at ease.  I had a similar problem, but it was from a really old piercing.

  • thanks for the suggestion. i really wasn't kidding, i just never post. **goes back into hiding now**
  • you don't need to go back to hiding, we just see joke questions like this every so often. However they are usually from people who just recently opened their account, which you did three months ago.
  • I don't know anything about fluid leaking, but a co-worker of mine said that when his wife was pregnant her belly button had a foul odor the whole time. There was nothing wrong with her or the baby, happened both times she was pregnant.

  • i appreciate the help. thanks ladies!
  • I think this sounds legit too. Just because someone has a strange symptom doesn't mean they are fibbing.

In my admittadely lay opinion this sounds like you might have some type of infection in there.I googled belly button infetion and found this site - seems to describe your symptoms...

  • i didn't get that site when i googled, but it does sound pretty similar. i put aintibiotic cream on it and hopefully will be able to get something stronger in the morning. thanks!
  • This isn't a stupid question at all. It actually happened to me a few weeks ago and it turned out that from the stomach stretching so much there are small folds of skin in your navel and while washing it IN THE SHOWER it had gotten a small scratch inside. because things are so tight and stretched out in there right now not enough air gets in there to dry the tiny cut out. So it gets oozy....disgusting i know but another little price we pay for our bundle of joy in the end. My doctor told me to wash it with rubbing alcohol and it was gone in a few days.
