This is a very time intensive task and yet, it is probably the most important task I have ever done. I stressed over every detail of all aspects of my wedding invites, paper etc....and this is so much more important! I am a freak about detail and usually very creative, but I am hitting a wall. If anyone has any ideas, please bring 'em on!
Here's the deal: ( sorry if I run long!) I have already layed out final copy of our profile and it has been reviewed by my attorney. It was done on PowerPoint and I then converted it to a .PDF file for printing. It is formatted for 8 1/2 by 11 LANDSCAPE and I wanted it to be printed like a photo book, like Shutterfly, MyPublisher etc..... I went to the UPS Store and got crappy service, went to Staples and tried to "hit the easy button" but did not like the spiral binding option they offered and their hard cover photo books do not print landscape format ( by that I mean, bound on the "short side" of the document). I do NOT want to re formatt the doc for many reasons, and for some reason, I can not find anyone who can do this job. I then converted the file to JPG form and uploaded each page as a photo and tried to do a scrapbook page book on Shutterfly but all the sites I tried to use said the resolution of my jpg is too small for the 8 1/2 by 11 size. I feel that 5 X7 is too small.
I am slightly more skilled than the average gal with this stuff but still consider myself an amature. Is there a way to change resolution in the jpg format? Does anyone know a document publishing service who can do this? Any creative "out of the box" thinkers out there??
I worked SO hard on this and I dont want to "cheap it out" at the end but I am at my wits end!!!! BTW: we are doing private attorney domestic adoption and my attorney is requireing 20 bound copies. Not to be a bragger, but my atty. said mine was the best she has ever seen and I don't want to change one punctuation mark at this point!!!
TIA Ladies!!!!!
Re: Please Help me print/publish my profile!
We just took it to a regular print shop gave them the disk that the PDF file was on and two hours later we had 10 copies.
Staples didn't seem to comprehend what we wanted---one more reason why I can't stand Staples.
I had scrapbooked my profile then made 8.5 x 11 color copies. I went to Staples and got a presentation folder - they came in Navy and White and has clear top loading clear sleeves to put your pages in. Mine has 6 sleeves inside and there is a slot for the front cover. I know they had also had version with more sleeves. They only cost a few bucks and easy to work with.
I know all those books by Shutterfly look great but they are just so much many and well, I am basically cheap. LOL
We are doing private domestic too - Good luck!
PS - go Eagles!

Thanks, girls! I really don't want to use Staples, etc, only because I HATE the spiral binding they offer and a presentation folder is probably my best option...I may have to add some pages, however to fill the book and that means more PowerPoint work I don't really want to do...plus the presentation folder opens on the long side of the document and mine is designed to open landscape....I am so picky, I can't stand myself sometimes!!
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Have you tried a local/non-chain printer? Lots of times, they also offer binding services and can probably accomodate what you are looking for.
I think I have also seen directions on Martha Stewart's website on how to bind things yourself using a certain kind of glue and then binding chords/tape to cover the spin. Might be something to think about.
Good luck!
