Pregnant after 35

Had my ultrasound yesterday

Baby looked great and very active. It was hard to get a shot of the face, but finally the ultrasound person got one. She was great...no accidentally telling us the gender. I was worried about that, since it happened to my sister.

It's such a relief to see the little guy/girl and know that all measurements look good.

  • I'm glad your baby looked great and that the tech didn't spoil your surprise. Congrats!

  • I am glad you had a good u/s. I am considering not finding out the gender of the little one at mine, I still don't know what I am going to do yet though. Why did you want to wait?

  • that is great news.  we also decided not to find out.  it is great the hospital took it off the report they sent to the doc.  sxo our doc doesn't even know.  we wantedx it to be a surpise.  you only have a few surprises in life.

  • Isn't it amazing how much detail they can capture at the 20 week u/s?  Did they do the really cool bit where they looked at the blood flow in the umbilical cord??

Congrats on the healthy munchkin, and on maintaining the surprise!

I've always felt that finding out the baby's gender is one thing I could wait until after the delivery for. Normally I like to ruin surprises.

I figure it will be such a joy and surprise at the end of labor. The baby will sleep in a bassinet in our bedroom for the first few months, so we can get the bedroom decor after he/she is born.

It was weird, though, knowing the tech knew, but I had no idea the whole time she was doing the ultrasound.

  • Excellent news
  • Congratulations! I also just had my 20 wk anatomy Tuesday. Did your DH go with you? Mine did & it was so nice to be able to watch the baby moving around. It makes it so real. The ultrasound tech confirmed what I have been suspecting all week---that the feelings I have been getting in my belly are in fact the baby moving around.

I too don't want to find out the sex & every time before an appt, I stress to the person taking care of me "I don't want to know".

  • DH did go. I think it was good for him to see the baby because for the past few weeks I've been telling him how much the baby moves. Now he finally got to see what the baby is doing. I think it made everything more real for him.
