I am attempting to relactate, I am seeing some increase after taking Fenugreek for about two days but only a few drops. I have been using a hand pump but am going to pick up an electric tomorrow. I am wondering once your supply was established what a typical day is like with your pumping. I have been trying for a week and before I invest in another pump I want to make sure I can do it. Thanks!
Re: Exclusive pumpers
So you just mean quantity? I get almost exactly 745ml (about 24oz) a day no matter what I do or how often I pump. I need closer to 1000ml, but what can you do.
Sometimes I pump 7 times, sometimes 9 and for the life of my boobs I can't get them over the 24oz mark.
Because you're trying to relactate, I'd go and rent a hospital grade pump for a few weeks. That's going to be the most effective at getting milk for you.
Other good pumps include the Medela PISA, Ameda Purely Yours, and the Lansinoh double electric (which is exactly the same as Ameda's just cheaper).
At first you have to pump 10-12 times/day-- every 2-3 hours-- around the clock to establish your supply. Once it stabilizes, you can drop it down slowly. You need to make sure you're pumping at night because your prolactin levels are the highest between 1&4 am. Take advantage of that time.
If you aren't already hands free, this will help you greatly. GL!!!
Ditto Kel- rent a hospital grade for a few weeks.
and ditto the 10-12x a day for 15/20 min.

Using fenugeek to relactate is like using a spoon to clear the roads of ?snow in winter. The studies show it is as effective as a placebo, no more no less. Get a Rx for domperidone or reglan or you're just dooming yourself to fail.
And yes, a double electric pump like the Ameda PY or a hospital grade rented one.?
I pump 5 times a day and I get about 30 oz.
*7am - 10oz
*12pm - 6 oz
*3:30pm - 5-6oz
*7-8pm - 4-5oz
*11pm - 4-5oz
I don't pump durin the night and it works fine for me. I'm just too dang tired to pump in the middle of the night!
