preeclampsia watch- how long after diag. were you induced?

So at my app today they said my blood pressure was up, my hands and ankles looked puffy, i have some protein in my urine and my weight was up.  I had this happen awhile ago and everything turned out fine but it still stucks to be back on watch again for this.  I have to go back in Monday to get checked out again.

If you had Pre-eclampsia how long after your diagnosis were you induced?

Re: preeclampsia watch- how long after diag. were you induced?

  • They tested me again at 36 weeks and exactly on the dot- 37 weeks I was induced. ?It's basically a waiting game, waiting for you to get worse... and my doc. said it was over, my body was showing too many signs that it was time to get him out of there! ?

I also called my doc. on the day of the 37th week because I magically blew up (my feet were scary!) over night. ?He told me to come in right then to the office. ?I had a bad feeling and called my DH and had him come home and go with me. ?When we got to the office my pressure was up, and there was protein in my urine & they also did a stress test on the baby. ?They sent me directly to the hospital from there to be induced.

And I still had the signs of pre-e after having Jack. ?I didn't know that could happen, they had me on heavy blood pressure medication for about 6 weeks PP.

    So a week.

  • oh my gosh! Are you off the meds now? Glad your little one was ok! Did he have any problems after delivery?
  • I was watched for it for most of my pregnancy because my blood pressure was up and down. At 36 weeks it got much worse - I was put on bedrest for a week and when I went in the following week for my 37 week dr. appt- my doctor said that she had to deliver me that day. So she scheduled a c-section for that night. I also has blood pressure issues after and was on meds for 4 weeks. ( My blood pressure was actually higher after I had the baby)
  • I was on watch and part-time bed rest starting at 34 weeks. Everything pretty much stayed the same until 38 weeks. I noticed vision changes Saturday afternoon, and decided to go to the hospital that night. My blood pressure wasn't too hot, and I had a lot of protein in my urine (my urine was fine three days before this). My OB was on vacation until Monday, so they put me on mag-sulfate and had me induced Monday morning.

I also had pp pre-e. It was much more severe that the pregnancy pre-e and I spent a week in the hospital, and 6 weeks on bp medication as well. My bp is great now. My son was and is healthy and problem free.

  • I never fully developed pre-e, but my BP went up to the point that I got put on bedrest at 35 weeks, did a few pee-in-a-jug tests over the next weeks and had protein in my urine (but never to pre-e levels).  I got sent to the hospital 2 days before 37 weeks to be induced, but ended up getting sent home b/c my bp wasn't as high as it had been at home and the level of protein hadn't gone up since the last test, and my dr wanted DS to keep baking for a bit longer.  Finally at 1 day before 38 weeks, I was induced, and ended up with a c-section on the day of 38 weeks.

Good luck, take it easy, and your LO will be here soon!

Yeah I'm off the meds now. ?And DS didn't have any problems at all.

  • After a completely uneventful PG, my BP was a little high and I was retaining a lot of water at my 34 week appointment.  I didn't have any protein in my urine, so they decided to watch me for a week.  I was taking my BP at work and 4 days later at exactly 35 weeks it skyrocketed (170/110).  My doctor sent me to L&D, I was diagnosed with pre-e, and admitted to the hospital for bedrest.  They wanted to get me to 37 weeks, but my pre-e progressed rapidly and 4 days later they decided DD needed to come out.  I had a c/s b/c I had made no progress toward labor and my liver function was declining rapidly.  So, it was 4 days from diagnosis and 9 days from my first symptoms.  Fortunately, DD was small, but completely healthy. Good luck to you.
