What color crib should i get?

DH and I are going back and forth between espresso and white.

Our bedding is mostly white - MiGi Posy.

Do you think espresso would look good with it or should it be white?

Sorry don't know how to make that clicky or add a pic. TIA

If someone can tell me how to make it clicky i can edit.

Re: What color crib should i get?

  • It was clicky.

Will the walls have some color on it or just white?

I think that with the bedding, the white crib looks better.  But I'm also not a fan of white walls, white furniture.

  • I think that it would look very pretty with an espresso crib.  It kinda has an earthy feel to it.  My bedset is mostly white and is shown with the espresso crib online.  I feel that the espresso off sets it a little and the bedset stands out a bit more.  GL. Smile

  • I love the look of white cribs, but we decided that if we ever had a boy, we'd prefer darker wood. We're having a girl now, but down the road you never know (and we plan to use our nursery furniture for subsequent kids).

IMO, I think your bedding would look fab with espresso!

  • I personally am not a fan of white furniture.  I think either crib would look fine though - I'd go dark, but that's just because of my aversion to white furniture.
  • It could definitely go either way. It just really depends on what you want to do on the walls and what total look you are going for, you know? Personally, I would do darker.
  • Thanks - we are renting right now, but plan to move in october. I think we are painting one wall as an accent (either pink or green) and the rest will be white, the accent wall will be the crib wall. We live in a loft and have 13ft high ceilings so painting all the walls only to move in october seems like a lot of work and silly.

  • Personally I really think you could be okay either way, depending on the wall color. I love brown and pink together, so obviously I think a brown crib and pink bedding is cute no matter what the wall color. The white would be cute as long as there is some color on the walls. I agree with pp that white furniture plus white walls is not a good combo. Good luck!
  • Thanks eveyone. I agree that if there is color on the walls a white crib can look ok. DH has his heart set on it, because it's girly and we're having a girl.

I don't want to have to buy another crib down the line if we have a boy. Wasn't sure about the espresso glad you think it will look ok.

    Thanks for your help!

  • I think the bedding would be adorable with either, but I personally prefer espresso.
  • I am almost always a fan of white furniture in nurseries.

That said, go with whatever YOU like best (either will look great with the bedding).

I'd also consider the other furniture in the room.  I'm not fussy about textiles matching, but it aggravates me when I have a room with different wood finishes in it.  Wink  So, for example, if you have a white dresser and changing table, I'd probably go with white.  If you have a light-stained/oak dresser/changing table/rocker, etc., I'd go with white or wood that matches the rest of the furniture.  And, if the rest of the furniture is espresso/dark stained wood, I'd choose an espresso crib.

  • Also wanted to add... I wouldn't be too concerned about how the crib matches the current wall color(s), since you're moving in October.  I'd match the crib to the rest of the furniture (or pick what you like if you're starting from scratch), and worry about paint selection when you move.

  • I was set on white furniture until last week, the bedding we picked just didn't look as pretty with white. But yours really could go either way. Good luck!
  • We are getting espresso and I think that would look great with your bedding!  The biggest problem with white is that it shows everything!  Because it is painted and not stained, it will also chip much easier than the espresso.  Espresso is a stain, so the color should hold up better.  This is what every person I have talked to in furniture stores has told me.  They've all said that if for some reason I am determined to get a white crib, go with one that is antiqued looking.
