Non-Blue nurseries...boy this is hard!

(get it...boy...blue nursery...haha! ok too early for corny jokes)

we JUST found out we're having a wee little lad yesterday, and my head is spinning! if it was a boy, we were hoping to steer away from blue nurseries beacuse our master bedroom is blue. but every boy nursery out there is blue blue blue! a little blue is ok, but i want to broaden my horizons! i'm also not into themes (jungle, pooh, disney, blah blah blah), so that's making it harder to choose bedding.

 - Do you have a non-blue boy nursery? If so, pics?

  • ours is gender neutral since we don't know what we're having, so i think it would pass as "boy". pics in my post "Neutral nursery PIP" at the bottom of this page or on the next...

  • I have seen a few lately that are lime green, black and white, or lime green, navy and white - just geometric patterns and stripes - very modern and cool looking.

This would obviously work for a girl or a boy, but I think it is a very nice boy nursery theme.

    Good luck!

  • We didn't do blue in eaither bedroom.  My DS is 20 months old, and we did kahki walls, and my husband hung wainscotting (sp) which was white from chair rail down.  Then in new babies room we did kahki again, but then did large squares trimmed them in white and painted chocolate brown.  You can accent with blue if you want, but at least your walls aren't blue, and it is neutral.

Maybe some of the fabrics will give you ideas on colors.  I love the black/white/lime combo!

  • We are doing a gender nuetral nursery however it could easily work for a boys room. we are going for a modern look, with browns, greens, yellows & creams.

This is the bedding we are using

There are a lot of other nuetral options you may want to look at. Rate my space also has tons of great ideas.

  • I didn't want blue, either, so we are using this sports bedding:

and much to my husband's glee, we're doing the general decor in WSU Cougars colors -- gray walls with a crimson border of stars around the top, and a lot of crimson accents.

I think it's going to look really cool and unique.

  • we don't know what we are having yet, but we have already agreed if it's a boy, we are not going all blue. i'm thinking tans, greens, maybe a pop of orange.
  • Here's a cool one

  • we are doing navy/orange/sage for the twin's nursery.  DS's nursery is painted brown with blue accents. I also dislike themes... and just do color schemes instead.

there are tons of cute ideas on rate my space.

  • I wanted to steer clear of blue too and went green and bright:

  • find your bedding first.. you can always find a good paint color, but it's hard to find bedding you love.

  • We do, pic in siggy and more to come soon.  Basically the walls are lime and chocolate...we have navy accents (rug, bedding, wall decal, storage bins, window treatments, glider cushions, changing pad cover).  So it's definitely not your typical baby-blue nursery.  Will try to post pics soon!  If you want, page me on 3rd tri and I can email you some.

Ours is a girl, but it is really gender neutral.  Not sure if you can see my profile pics (they are tiny from the Nest) but we have a buff color on the walls and an artist came and painted murals on the walls.
