Is having 2 Godfathers (no Godmother) weird?

Yep, still stressing over this.  We have chosen one of the boys Godparents, and are still debating the other.  We are thinking about choosing my brother along with DH brother, but not sure if that is just plain weird?

Our other option would be to choose DH aunt and my brother, but we would prefer both of our brothers because they are both very active in the boys lives.  His aunt would be a wonderful GM, but she lives across the country and is not able to visit very often.

Any thoughts?

  • Is the church alright with 2 Godfathers?  That would be my only question.  If the church is okay with it, I say go with.  You want the Godparents to be involved in the boys' lives and if your brothers are going to be really involved in their lives, I think they'd be the perfect Godparents.

  • My sister has 2 godmothers and she was baptized in a catholic church (no problem)...if we do decide to baptize our children, they will probably have 2 godmothers also as between DH and I we have all sisters for siblings and that's who we most likely will choose.
  • My nephew has two godmothers & no god fathers, I am one of them.  We are both his aunts.  At the time neither of us were married.  And we are both extremely close to my nephew.

I thought it was a little different at first, but definitely don't anymore.

  • I'm the godmother to my niece and there are THREE godfathers as well! ?As long as the church is ok with it I say do what you want!
  • I don't think that's weird at all...you want people who are involved in your children's lives to be Godparents.  As long as your church is cool with it, I say go for it.  I'm already stressing about who the new baby will have as Godparents...I feel like we tapped our religious resources with the twins!
