Spring/Summer Maternity Clothes

Someone in 2nd tri was talking about maternity shorts and it made me think...?

I am soooo happy that most of my pregnancy has been throughout the winter. ?It's been so nice to just throw on jeans and sweater. ?I can't imagine having to wear tanktops and shorts while pregnant. ?Yuck. ?I like hiding under my bulky clothes.

  • Ooo... I agree!

  • I was just having this discussion last night with a friend who's due in Aug. I couldn't imagine waddling around in shorts & tank tops being this far along... no thanks!
  • My first pregnancy lasted throughout the whole summer. Daughter born at the end of August. I actually prefer that, because in the winter I'm bundled up and get so hot easily. I actually think I look cuter in dresses when preggers.
  • oh i'm the exact opposite.  i would much rather have been pregnant in summer when i didn't have to wear layers of clothes, or find coats that fit me.  i'd love to just have some nice tanks and comfy pants to wear all summer long.  Plus in the summer my job is casual dress from may until September so it would have been sooo much easier to dress.

  • i am the exact opposite... i would rather have been pg mroe in the springtime NOT SUMMER THO... bc i hated being bundled up i always felt so constricted and tight.... i am in tank tops and stretchy pants all day until i have to go somewhere..... to much hassle for me...and these hot flashes dont help either
  • I can only imagine what it would be like in my classroom if this was June. I am in a t-shirt and jeans today and I'm sweating up a storm (even as the snow flies outside the window)!
  • I definitely agree. Though this weekend it's going to be 60...what am I going to do? Maybe just some flip flops and jeans will be enough.
  • I would much rather be in summer clothes, esp. dresses.
  • I agree it has been much easier on my wardrobe to wear maternity clothes through the winter.  I dont think I would be comfortable in shorts at all.
  • See I am just glad that I don't have to get into a swimsuit.  I l;ove the bump but I am hating my thighs and legs right now.
  • I prefer summer clothes.   Dresses are the most comfortable for me.   Pants are so much harder because I have to wear professional clothing for work, and I keep gaining some weight in my legs, so pants may not fit until I'm due!   With dresses made of stretchy material, I only need to worry about the arms fitting.   Plus, they just look more flattering on me anyway because they hide the new thigh bulges.

But, I do agree that I'm not loving tank tops right now.   And I definitely won't be attempting shorts (I don't do shorts even when I'm in shape).   I will do breezy skirts though.

And swimsuits are the devil right now.   If anyone is looking, I just bought 2 bikini bottoms from Dicks Sporting Goods.   They are Reebok (non-maternity, actually), and they have a skirt built on.   But, it's not the bathing suit skirt 87 year old women wear, it's like a tennis skirt or a jogging skirt.   It looks really sport and cute, and it hides the upper thighs/butt.    I'd wear it even when I'm not pregnant.
