Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone heard of no berries??

My SIL said her doctor said no berries at all till 2, she has a 20 month old that has never eaten blueberries, strawberries, etc.

My dr. did not say anything about this at our 9 month appointment today.  My DD has been eating baby food with blueberries, etc.

Anyone heard this??

Re: Anyone heard of no berries??

  • I have not heard this and DD has had berries since she was 9 months. I know that there are some kids allergic to strawberries...maybe that is the concern?

  • Our pedi said no strawberries until 1 year, but ALL other berries were ok before that.

  • Ours said that DD could have whatever we were having except for peanut butter, chocolate, citrus and eggs till she was a year.  DDs loves all kinds of berrys I can't fathum to berrys.
  • never heard this. My DS eats so many blueberries I fear that he is going to turn into one! He has been eating them for months now.?
  • I was told no citrus and no strawberries until one but DS had some eczema when he was around three or four months.  HTH
  • We didn't do strawberries until one year, unless it was strawberry banana baby food (and even then it was around 10-11 months). And I'm super strict about foods because DH is severely allergic to shellfish. Meaning his throat closes up and he needs to get to a hospital, not just that he gets a rash.

On an unrelated note, your DD and I have the same b-day! Yay for Jan. 5!

  • I had never heard this, gave dd berries at about 8 months, noticed someone on here mention it, called pedi, and she said it wasn't a big deal.
