OB appointment today and I'm measuring...

2 weeks ahead. Is that a big deal?  I saw the PA today, not my regular OB, and she seemed "iffy" on whether or not I needed another u/s.  Is there a medical reason that measuring ahead is bad, or is it just that having a big baby is harder?  I thought about googling it, but decided against-I don't want to work myself up.  Thanks!

  • Plus or minus 2 weeks is considered normal.  Nothing to worry about!

  • I've heard one to two weeks is normal. The PA might have just been iffy since you're on the high end of normal, but not really far ahead enough to be concerned. They might also not be worried enough to do an u/s until you're further along, but I'm not sure.

  • I consistently measured two weeks ahead and they didn't become concerned until my last visit because I went up to three weeks ahead.  So they scheduled a growth u/s for next week.
  • I'm measuring a little ahead also but my doctor told me she thinks it's just because the baby is really long.

  • It's super common. I, for example, am measuring 3 weeks ahead. But it could be due to the positioning of the baby, lots of good amniotic fluid, slightly larger baby. Unless you have high BP, I don't see it as a big deal.

  • Thanks!  I'm not going to stress then!
