I guess I should say Hi first. I usually lurk here and have gotten a lot of good information from this board. I know I should probably ask the 0 - 6 months board too... but I'm starting here first.
I just got back from an OB appt., and they said they would remove my cerclage next Thursday. I've asked my OB these questions too, and have gotten her answers, but I wanted to also find out from women who have "gone through it personally", kwim??
1. Does it hurt? I know it's done in the office, no anesthesia (sp?), and shouldn't take long.... but really.... what did it feel like? Were you sore afterward?
2. How long after the cerclage did you go into labor?
Thank you ladies!
Re: Did/Do you have a cerclage?
It was too late for me to get one. But have you posted over on High Risk pg? Also try Preemies.
I spend most of my time on the Incompetent Cervix boards, not on the Nest, but yeah, I had a preventive cerclage. I had it out at 35w6d, and I'm at 39w1d and still pregnant. I was 1cm/60-70%/-2 right after the stitches came out, and I've made NO progress since then. So, a little disappointing! My doc said the average is about 2 weeks from removal, but clearly it varies since I'm coming up on the 1-month mark...
It was not painful to have it out at all. That being said, I had a complete panic attack before she went in to remove it, so they gave me Demerol as a sedative to try to get my adrenaline (and baby's pulse rate) back down. The whole thing took 5 minutes and was not bad at all. But it was pretty embarrassing that I had a complete meltdown like that in front of the doctor and the nurses. So, ummm, try not to do THAT I guess.
