RP from working moms: update on my lazy DH

First I want to thank all of you for your advice. I didn't go on strike, but I did stop doing as much (e.g. didn't do laundry, didn't empty dishwasher until it was basically empty from us getting clean dishes out of it, etc), which I think had some impact because when I finally did straighten the house, he noticed right away.

We've been having some really good talks, which is good.

This week, he's really been stepping up. DD was sick yesterday and he stayed home until 11:00 to watch her while I was on conference calls, and then came back at 2:45 and they went out while I had another call. He's also done 4 loads of laundry (piled up from last week), and helped cook dinner last night. He also told me today that he doesn't think he can watch TV anymore, or at least not as much as he has been (which is my BIG pet peeve).

Oh - and one thing I forgot to mention on WM's is that he also bought me a beautiful tulip plant Monday.

It's baby steps but we're moving forward.

  • We're trying. Today I'm really tired and cranky so just warned him that I'm not likely to be sweet even though he is and that he shouldn't take it personally.
  • Yeah, my DH pointed out my "short fuse" last night. That did not go over well with me. I am pretty cranky and fed up right now too.

  • Really glad to hear things are getting a little better. Just keep the communication going.

Here's another great thing to do if you don't have it already. Invest in a DVR (not sure if they call it the same out there). Record all yours/his shows. You can zip through all the commercials. He won't have to be glued to the TV worried he's going to miss an important play, while your asking him to do something. He can pause or watch it later.

    Nice with the flowers!
