We did not register for one because my friend went into her child's room one night and somehow he had managed to get under the sleep positioner and it was on top of his face. He was ok but she was very shaken up, and upset about it. Who could blame her. So IMO not worth the risk. But I'm sure some people have had very good experiences with them.
I did not knowing if I actually need it or not. But I don't see how an infant could suffocate, it's completely breathable with holes through the foam part.

I took it off our registry after they told us in our baby safety class that babies need to sleep flat on their backs. If our baby has reflux and needs to be propped up to sleep - we'll get one.

I was wondering about this. I did not register for one but my sister gave me one she already had. ?Since it was not something I ever considered using I wasn't sure if it was something I needed. ?I think I will just store it away in the closet and keep it out of the crib.
