  • I think Callie is really cute, and yes; it's pronounced Cal-ley, not Cay-ley.

  • I dont mind the name Callie as long as its Cal lie and not Cay lie.?

  • I love this as a nickname, but not as a first name. Yes, it is pronounced Cal-lee.
  • i like it as a NN, but not as a full first name
  • I think it's really cute.... for a little girl. I like the name, but I can't imagine a 50 year old woman named Callie. The name has to grow up with the child.
  • i like it, although to me it's more of a nn.
  • I love the name. It's actually one of our top contenders if we have a girl. It's a popular old name, so I don't associate it as a "cutesy" nickname. I know plenty of adult Callies (think Grey's Anatomy!).

  • I like it. Our friend's daugher is named Calli and it's adorable. :) I think it's going to be our daughter's middle name.

    Ditto.

  • I thought it was pronounced Cal-lee.  It is nms though.
  • Friends of ours just named their daughter Callie. Grace is her mn.
  • It's cute!

  • It's one of my favorite names. I know a couple of women in their mid twenties with the name but I also know some older women probably in their seventies with the name so to me it isn't just "cutesy" I think it ages well. I'm curious though for the people who said they think of it as a nn - a nn to what?
  • I really like it.  I've always pronounced is Ca-lee and not Caylie.  I looked up the meaning in a baby name book one time and it said that its meaning is "most beautiful" what a name for a beautiful baby girl!

The character on Grey's Anatomy goes by Callie as a nickname -- her full name is Calliope.  (Yes, I'm obsessed with the show.)

I agree with pp's that Callie is a super-cute nickname, but I don't care for it as a stand alone given name.
  • Hi! I usually lurk on thebump and thenest...this post caught my interest!

I love the name Callie, it's very cute. My best friend's name is Hallie, which is a favorite of mine also.

  • It's a cute name. I like it a lot, but I'd probably use it as a nn for something more proper like Caroline or Calista

  • I love it, however I'm a little biased cause that's my name! I spell it Kallie though. I will tell you I get "Kaylee" ALL the time. I work in sales, meeting people for the first time every day and most people's first reaction to my name is "kaylee". I wish it were spelled Kali. Maybe spelling with a "c" you won't have the "cay-lee vs. cal-lie" mixup all the time.

  • My name is also Kallie and I get called Kay-lee all the time.  No one ever really had nicknames for me, except Kal once and a while, so I think it might be nice to have a longer name and have it be a nickname. GL!
