Boston Babies

Pediatricians

I am so disappointed that none of the peds I call see you prior to having baby. Is this the norm now? I am having twins in June & trying to decide whom to go w/ based off never meeting them. I live in Quincy, but will deliver at South Shore Hospital. Milton peds is close, but don't have privileges at SSH. I hear South Shore Medical is great, but in Norwell. Not sure if that is too far for a Ped. Anyone have any recs? Did anyone meet their ped first?

Re: Pediatricians

  • My DD's ped is at the Harvard Vanguard in Watertown, which would be a little far for you, but I believe there is an HVMA office in Quincy.  The HVMA Watertown office had a "Meet the Pedi" night for each of their peds who were accepting new patients.  It wasn't as personal as a one-on-one meeting, but it was definitely comforting to be able to ask her questions and get a feel for her medical philosophy.  The HVMA Quincy might do something similar.  GL!

  • My pediatrician met with me and my husband prior to the baby being born and answered all of our questions and toured us around his office - we went with him for that reason. Unfortunately I am in Chelmsford so probably not helpful for you, but I would insist on meeting the pedi before making a decision and before the twins are born. Good Luck!

  • I will be delivering at South Shore Hospital and set up an appointment to meet a pediatrician at South Shore Pediatrics in Weymouth.  I've received a few recommendations to their offices and have an appointment set up for later this month to meet them.  Hope that helps a little!  Good luck :)
  • I can't help w/ any recs, as I don't live in the area.  Does your pedi need to have privileges at SSH?  My pedi didn't have privileges at Mass General (where I delivered) but it didn't matter b/c Mass General uses their own pedis anyway.  I wouldn't have been able to see my own pedi anyway.

My Pedi's office does not normally meet w/ new parents.  However, I told them I needed to meet her and ask some questions, as it was important to me.  They said no problem.  We really liked he and have been with her since.

They certainly should be able to accomodate your wishes.  It doesn't take a long time to meet and ask some questions.
