3rd Trimester

anyone else seeong spots

I had a sub Doctor last check up, I mentioned that I was seeing spots (more like fruit flies flying around) She brushed it off and said try to eat more protien.  I have another exam tomorrow.  I have been seeing them more often.  I will be asking my doctor about it.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this.  It happens about 5 times a week.

  • Sorry it should be Seeing

  • NO AND THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING.

Def mention it to your doctor and make sure they take it seriously!

  • I would definitely talk to your doctor about this. ?I partially lost my vision when I was pregnant with #1 and they told me to immediately go to L&D! ?Mine was more of a loss of peripheral vision that slowly closed in. ?It turned out to be nothing but a migraine (I get them maybe once a year) and the baby was fine.
  • I'm pretty sure that seeing spots is a sign of pre-eclampsia... you definitely need to get it checked out.

Okay, the more I think about it, I don't want to completely freak you out. It could be nothing...but then it could be something, so it's definitely important to mention it to the dr. GL!

  • Make sure your BP is at a normal level. THe spots and blurry vision could be a sign of pre-e.
  • Your vision can change during pregnancy.  However, if you have high bp, protein in your urine, and are seeing spots, that is definitely a concern for pre-e.  But if your bp is fine and there is no protein in your urine, that could be why the doctor brushed it off.  But you should definitely mention it again, they may want to watch you closely.

    This!

Are you swollen in hands/feet/face? Have you had any sudden weight gain (like 5 lbs in the last week). I would get it checked out - pre-e can turn into e-clampsia and be deadly. Better safe than sorry!

  • I hear you LOL! I see gold spots here and there. I have no idea what causes them. I asked DH if it ever happens to him, and he says sometimes. So I tried googling it and found nothing. My BP has been peerfect the entire time, so I knoe that is not the problem in my case. This has happened occasionally before pregnancy to. I wonder if it has to do with the equilibrium (SP?)

  • my BP is low.  I check it at work (hospital) so that's not it, but thanks.  I will def. mention it tomorrow.  I had pre e with DD, so I have been monitoring my BP.  I was surprised when the doctor said it was no big deal.  I will be happier talking to my regular doctor about it.
  • I have been having this for about two weeks and said something to my OB today at my visit.  She said it is a dip in my BP that will sometimes happen with changing position and the strain from the baby at this point.  She said it is a 50/50 thing for most pregnant women and not to worry about it when everything else (regular BP tests, urine, etc) are all checking out just fine.

  • I've been seeing spots/stars once in a while, too.  Last time was yesterday when I got out of the shower.  Other times were when I stood up too fast - I thought it was low BP.  I have another appointment in a week, so I'll be sure to ask about it.  Keep us updated if you find out anything from your doc.
  • Definitely a sign/symptom of pre-eclampsia or higher than normal blood pressure must have it checked out immediately.
