How do you handle it? Therapy, medicine, natural remedies, etc? I have always had anxiety issues...was on some medicines back in the day but stopped because of various side effects. It was all under control for the most part, until DD was born. I know part of being a mom is the constant worry, but I think this is an exception. My sleep is terrible every night, I just can't seem to shut my mind off and do not sleep soundly at all. I am exhausted all day, even with 9 hours of sleep...and I think it is all due to the anxiety.
Anyways, if you suffer from anxiety, what do you do for it?
Re: Anyone have anxiety issues?
In the past I took xanax but had to stop during pregnancy and am still med free because Im BFing.
Things really have been getting worse so I decided to see a psychologist. I've only had 1 session so far but she recommended getting exercise every day, doing some breathing techniques, meditation and yoga. I kinda
at meditation, its just NMS, but Im going to commit to gettting at least 30 mins a day of exercise or yoga in and Im working on the breathing part to help peel me off the ceiling when I start to freak out. LOL nothing works like the xanax did though. Really just seeing the therapist already helps me feel better because I know Im doing something to help myself, KWIM? I definatley recommend seeing someone. I didnt want to at first because it seemed like that was admitting that Im defective, but now that I have started to I wish I would have years ago. HTH.
I've had anxiety issues for many years. I would say that now I'm *practically* cured. I still have my moments but I can deal with things so much better because I now have the tools. I've never been big on medication so what helped me was therapy, both self guided and with a therapist. It's not something that will happen overnight but I think that the effects are much longer lasting this way.
Also when I would feel particularly panicky, stretching and deep breathing helped me through. And a few minutes every other day on the treadmill helped too.
Page me or PM me if you have any questions - I'm very happy to help.
