About 2 weeks ago, I lost my baby at 17 weeks. This was discovered during a dr. appointment with a D&E the following day. When I called my work to let my boss know I needed time off, he was very concerned obviously, but also went so far as to come over with his wife and bring me dinner/wait for my friend to come over. My friend was staying with me, as the father was out of town on work.
I'm not sure how I should recognize his thoughtfulness/concern/and help when it was from a boss. If it was a friend, i would make cupcakes, but i'm stumped on what's appropriate for a boss.

First of all I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby after 15 weeks and had a D&E about 2 weeks ago as well, so I know how painful it is.
Your boss sounds like such a wonderful person, and what he did is so sweet. I think a really sincere card expressing how thankful you are is just fine. I wouldn't do anything more at this point - you're still grieving and anything more would probably make him feel like he had to thank you for your thank you - and then you'd be in an endless cycle of thank you's. Ok, I'm being a little silly now, but you get the point.
Have you had your first post D&E appt with your OB yet? Mine is Friday.
Mine is today.
I went to the gym last night -- eventhough I'm supposed to wait until after the check-up. I just got on the eliptical and took it easy. Another one of my bosses (I have 3) was there, and YELLED at me about waiting until after my check up.
I hope you're healing process is moving foward.
